Hello guys, this is Amos Doll Music,
and in today's lesson I'm going to teach you
how to play this song called S.O..S. Okay, this version, this key is in the key of D-maj. Okay, so here we go. Give you a preview. It goes like this. It's in the key of B minor. [Bm] [G]
[D]
[Em] [Bm]
Keys. [G]
[D]
[Em] [B] [Bm]
Okay, let's get right to it. So melody [Db] and block chords first, because that's the [N] foundation of a song. You can add extra stuff to it, okay? So yeah, the Okay, so this song, okay, it's actually really hard to sing. You can see, like, it's already like a huge spread of octaves. It covers from low B up to the next B, [E] up to the next B. So it's [Bm] like [E] So it's like pretty crazy [N] range, okay? So very, very awesome skill from Dimash vocal performances that made this song Yeah, like, well it is a famous song before anyway, but the song has emerged again right now. Okay, but anyway, so here we go. Let's get right into it. So right hand starts on this B, just below middle C. So this is a trick to it, okay? It's kind of like a B minor arpeggio, okay? And it spreads from [Bm] this B up to the next B. So [Dm] three Bs in total, remember, okay? So that's the first part, okay? So let's do this [N] first part again, okay? So we're breaking this up into two parts, it's easier to work. Okay, one more [B] time. It goes [Bm] Up to the [Em] high B again, okay? [B] So it's the B minor arpeggio played for a total of, I guess, two octaves, but it covers up [Bb] three Bs, just remember that, okay? [E] Last time we have two chords here for the first part. The [B] two chords are B [Bm] minor, which is B, D, F sharp. And then second chord is G [G] major, which is G, B, D. Okay, [B] so these two chords in [Bm] mind, so B minor, [G] G major, the two hands together goes like this, [Dm] okay? So B and B minor [Bm] together, B and G major together, [G] like that, okay? [Bm] One more time, it goes together. [G] Pretty simple, it's just the chord with the first and last note of the phrase, okay? [N] So yeah, that's that for the first part. Moving on to the second part, more notes here. Right hand continues up to the high E, F sharp, E, [Bb] F sharp, D, down [E] to [Dm] B, A, and then fast [A] G, A, G. And then G, A, G, [D] A, F sharp. And that's it for the second part for the right [Db] hand, okay? One more time, so it goes up to the [E] high E, so E, F sharp, E, F sharp, D, [Dm] down to B, A, [A] and then G, A, G, G, A, [D] G, A, F sharp. That's it for the right [E] hand. Once you get the right hand there, last time we have three chords [Ebm] here. The three chords are [D] D major, which is D, F sharp, A. Second chord is [Em] E minor, which is E, G, B. And then the third chord, B [Bm] minor, which is B, D, F sharp. Alright, so with these three [D] chords in mind, so D [Em] major, E minor, [Bm] B minor, the two hands together, it goes like this. [B] Right hand starts with [D] the first four notes. D and D major together, G and E [Em] minor together, F sharp and B [Bm] minor together. That's it. Okay, one more time, it goes [D] [Em]
[A] [Bm] like that. Beautiful. Okay, so back to back, the two parts of learning this lesson will be played like this, so it goes [G]
[D] [Em]
[Bm] Then you repeat it. [G] [E]
[D] [Em]
[Bm] There you have it. Okay, so once you get the melody and chords of this right, all the notes and all the rhythm, [Db] then you can start to add other improvisation and decoration patterns to it. Left hand can do like octave bass notes, and then followed by arpeggio patterns, rhythmic patterns. Right hand, you can harmonize it based on the chords, and sometimes you can add like these passing notes to the next chord and stuff, like what I did, okay? So you can do something like this, [B] check it out. So you can be like [Bm] [G] Arpeggio. [D] [Em]
[B] [Bm]
[D] [G]
[D]
[Em] [Bm]
Okay, so yeah, [N] very beautiful song. So I hope you enjoyed this. So this is the key in Dimash's key, B minor. And the original, I actually researched it, is that the other one is actually one whole key lower. So you can actually play the whole thing one whole key lower, in A minor key, and it will still be the same thing, but just [Bb] [F] a bit easier to sing since it's a bit [A] lower. So it's like [Am]
So [A] it's like, easier to hit because it's like one whole key lower, okay? But anyways, you can be [Am] like [C] [F]
[C] [Dm]
[A] So it's a good exercise for you actually to transpose it. [E] Downwards, because like being able to transpose on the spot, like from one key to another, [N] it's a good skill to have as well. It just proves that you know your particular chords, and then [Bb] the particular scale as well, to be able to instantly just transpose it, okay? [B] So from B minor [A] down to A minor. [Am] So [F] [C]
[Dm] [A]
that's actually the original one, okay? Yeah, in the other original key. [Db] But anyways, just have fun with it, play around with the two keys if you want. So I hope you enjoyed this lesson. If you did, make sure to check out the [F] rest of my channel, because eventually I have multiple thousands and thousands and thousands of other videos for you to enjoy and learn from.
