This is why I'm [D] glad I've written [G] ballads and I have more relaxing stuff to intersperse
in [A] the show so I can take, stretch out a little bit and Wonderful [B] Baby and things like that.
Which is a delightful only two minute plus number in contrast to Baby Size.
Yes.
And I'm surprised to hear that it was actually written with someone in mind who eventually recorded it.
Well, this is true.
Several things like this have happened to me along this line actually.
One was the Wonderful Baby thing.
It's not a big deal, but basically I had really been listening to nothing but Fred Astaire's
records for about six [Ab] months.
And suddenly I wrote this Wonderful Baby and it had that feel, you know, that 30s feel.
And about six months later, Astaire sent our [Bb] office a note saying that he wanted to record the song.
He listens to the radio in his free time and loved the song, picked it out of all the ones he heard.
Wonderful baby, [A] living [A] on love.
[Bb] Sandman says maybe he'll take you [G] above.
[C] Up where the girls [Gb] fly on ribbons and bows.
[Bb] Where babies float by, [F] just counting [G] their toes.
[Bb] Wonderful baby, [A] nothing [A] but news.
[Bb] World has gone [G] crazy, I'm glad I'm not you.
[C] At the beginning, [Gb] or is it the end?
[Bb] It goes in and comes out and [Gb] starts all over [F]
again.
[Bb] Wonderful baby, [A] living on love.
[Am] [Bb] Sandman says [G] maybe he'll take you above.
[C] Up where the girls [Gb] fly on ribbons and bows.
[Bb] Where babies float by, [Gb] just counting [F] their toes.
[Eb] Wonderful baby, [Ebm] I'll watch while you grow.
[Bb] If I knew the [G] future, you'd be first to know.
[C] But I, [Gb] what life's about, [Bb] just as long as you live, [Gb] you'll never [F] find out.
[Bb] Wonderful baby, [A] nothing to fear.
[C] Love whom you will, [G] but doubt what you hear.
[C] They'll whisper sweet [Gb] things and make you [Bb] want truth, so be good to yourself.
[Gb] That's all you [F] can do, [Bb] you're a wonderful baby.
