Alright, [B] so Anders and I met years ago somewhere in a dressing room or at a show.
Since we have co-written two songs, this is our most recent co-write.
And it's on our new record called Handguns.
The song's called Don't [Dbm] Lie.
And it was a piece that I had been working on for a really long time.
Almost a year actually, the last verse mentions something about a year behind.
And still this is where I left it because the song had taken me an [Bb] entire year to do anything with.
And we were in a similar setting to this [Db] except we were in Steamboat Springs, Colorado
sitting outside between soundcheck and show.
And he had this tune he was working on with no words and we decided to merge the two [E] tunes
into one song.
And [Ab] I really like playing it.
Do you?
I also really like playing it.
It's kind of like, [Abm] it's the first song on the new record and since we've [Bb] recorded it
we've sort of decided that it almost [Ebm] could potentially, almost potentially, I'm pretty sure about this,
it could [C] almost potentially be a quintessential Green Skies song [Db] as far as what it represents.
It has [Eb] everything that we did.
[C] A lot of our [Ab] ideas.
There's some space, there's some [Ebm] bluegrass, it's all there.
So today's version will be a little bit stripped down because there's just two of us.
But what you are getting, since you're sacrificing the [Ab] rest of the band,
you are getting [E] the two co-writers of this song playing this song together without anybody.
[Abm] And that [Gb] could be cool.
It could be.
It could be.
[Ab] We don't know yet.
We'll see.
It's called Don't Lie.

[Gbm] [E]
I'm cold again, there's pain in my fingers.
It's the way it's been lately, it could be worse [Gbm] I figure.
Why can't people sit [B] the same?
I'm [E] on a chain.
[D] And it doesn't make sense we're spending it.
Moving ladders where the [E] ceiling's ending.
[Bm] It was supposed to be an easy ride, but somebody lied.
Don't lie.
[B]
[E] [E] The great things break you quick, the way they break you fix.
It's hard to ride the wave and balance these [Gbm] days.
Why are [B] more roads paved?
[E] I can't travel on this wave.
We're climbing on debt's back and following the current trends.
It's what we're chasing, it's why [Dbm] we're running.
Why [B] are more roads paved?
[E] I can't travel on this wave.
[D] And it doesn't make sense we're spending it.
Moving ladders where the [E] ceiling's ending.

I can't travel on this wave.
The year behind me, still this is where I left it.
With nothing gained from what I've damaged.
Couldn't put it [B] down, it [E] held me up.
I haven't left the house in three days and it's getting harder to explain.
How I've been and what [Gbm] I'm up to.
Couldn't [B] put it down, it [E] held me up.
[D] Still it doesn't make sense we're spending it.
Moving ladders where the [E] ceiling's ending.
[Bm] It was supposed to be [D] an easy ride.
I said the whole year, but somebody lied.
Just like [A] I feel.
