[G] [Em] [Bm] [A] Fellow, [G] I love you, won't [Em] you tell me your name?
[A] Fellow, [G] I love you, let [Em] me jump [G#] in your game.
[F#] The doors were a great [G]
melting [Am] pot, and before we met,
each of us had [G] studied our [A] instrument quite a bit.
This poet who was full of lyrics, that was the magical ingredient.
She [G] holds her head so [A] [G] high,
like [A] a statue [G] in [A] the [G] sky.
[Am] Jim succumbed to alcoholism, the legal drug,
[N] which at the time we didn't have substance abuse clinics
and we didn't know he had a disease.
I'm wondering if [A] today, like Eminem,
who's this angry creative guy, can put out an album called Recovery,
maybe Jim could have done the same.
I [Em] can't make it [Dm] [Am] anymore.
[E] That was my cross to bear.
[N] I mean, I found my path in music and I was being creative
and I was in a band with a self-destructive kamikaze Dionysus drunk.
And it was hard, but I couldn't give it up because I knew there was magic.
Jim did not expose himself at Miami, okay?
He was drunk that night and very political and it was a mess musically,
but it was theatrical.
At the time, the country was polarized into for and against the Vietnam War.
I think they wanted to get those grubby rock and rollers,
those anti-establishment kids.
[G] [D] Thank you, God.
[C]
[B] I have [G] no way.
I have a formula for success and it's in three parts and it's in this order.
First, [A]
luck.
You know, I mean, there's a lot of talented people that aren't getting [B] anywhere
and a lot of people that are well-known that aren't very [C] talented.
And then chutzpah, you gotta hustle.
And then talent.
I [B] have no [E] way.
[Em] I'm now open [F#] to the idea of us maybe playing, like Pink Floyd did a get-together
and they've had their struggles for Live Aid or something,
some kind of altruistic one-off or two.
As far as a singer, though, how would you [N] approach that?
I think the only singer we could get for that would be Jimmy Fallon.
Well, I can't.
I adore backing up Bono, Eddie Vedder.
Eddie Vedder, yeah.
Eddie Vedder would be a good choice.
Well, Eddie Vedder inducted us into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
and sang Break On Through, Roadhouse, [G] and Light My Fire with us.
