_ I showed you some in the past on [D] some of the YouTube videos. _ _
[B] This time we're going to start off really simple.
We're going to just grab the left hand and not play anything on the right.
The real trick of this is to [D] be able to just rotate the pattern over and over and over
and over again.
It's like this.
We do a down, we rest on the string below.
I just hit the [E] sixth string, [N] I'm resting on the fifth.
I hit the fifth, I'm resting on the fourth.
I play it up on the fourth.
It's that simple.
Down, down, up.
The way to practice it is get your metronome, maybe like a_
_ Or a drum machine.
_ _ _ _ _ Just [D] do it real simple first.
_ _ _ [Gb] _ _
_ [B] _ Just rotate it really slow with [E] the beat.
One and two and three and four.
One and two and three and four.
One and two and [N] one and two and three and four.
Then go to the next pair of strings.
Five, four and three.
[A] _ _ _ _ _ [N]
And just concentrate on this right hand.
It's really important to just look at your right hand and look at what your right hand is doing.
_ _ Remember, down, a down, and an up.
If you can just concentrate on this one hand, the left hand will come really easy.
_ Try it again.
You want to get this [Db] like this.
_ The second one's harder than the first down.
Down, down, [A] up.
Down, down, up.
You got the picture.
Down, down, up.
Down, [Am] down, up. _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [E] So get your metronome or drum machine like I said and let it rotate and just go three,
_ four, and_ _
And repeat that same phrase.
_ And rest, rest, rest.
Rest, rest.
[G] Hit, rest.
You know what [N] I'm saying?
Every time you hit, you rest on the string below.
And you got to carry that through.
You got to carry it through every time you do it.
If you don't, you're not going to have the same [D] feel as you need.
You know, you're doing [Am] the technique. _ _ _ _
You left paw, _ right. _ _ _
_ _ [Eb] That's the [C] whole technique [A] behind this.
[Am] _
_ _ [G] _ _ [Eb] That technique right [E] there is this, sped up.
_ [Em] [Am] Okay?
So, _ _
_ _ [D] _ _ _ see that feel?
[A] _ _ _ _ _ I'm just rotating that technique _ [G] over and over and over again.
It's that simple.
It's a down, a down, and an up.
But [Bb] you got to fall and rest on the string below or it won't work [A] for you.
_ _ _ [D] _ _ _
_ So, _ _ [A] _ _
I'm just grabbing strings with my left hand. _ _ _ _
[B] _ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [G] _ _ _ Just grabbing strings.
_ _ _ _ [D] _ _ [A] _ _
_ Because you just do opens like that or mute it.
[B]
It's better actually to mute and concentrate on your right hand.
So give that a shot.
Just over and over and over again with the right hand until you feel confident with the
So, we're going to do the [E] 6 and 5th, 5th and the 4th, 4th and the 3rd, 3rd and the
2nd, and the [A] 2nd and the 1st.
Okay?
Now, when you go [B] down on the 2nd string, if you're starting down this low on a pattern,
_ [E] _ _ [B] _ _
you're going to go down, [N] rest on the 1st string, and you're going to go down, and there's no
string to rest on.
Okay?
So you got to create a rest with muscle memory.
You know what it feels like here, [Gbm] right?
_ [N] You know what it feels like on the 6th and the 5th string.
Make that muscle memory create the same [Eb] rest.
_ [D] There.
There's no rest there, [Eb] but you're creating it.
_ [Am] So you can basically _ rotate. _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ And [Eb] rotating that _ over and over again.
_ It's that simple.
The double [C] down ups.
It's the simplest, hardest thing you'll ever learn through your right hand.
But once you get it, once you get the basics with the left muted hand, concentrate on the
right, it's amazing what you can do with it.
It's absolutely
