[A] [G]
[F#] I'm Doug Aldrich, it's been really great to be [C#m] here with you at Guitar [G#m] Tutorials, a little
music studio, Guitar Sauce.
[B] This is the [N] last lick I'm going to do today.
There's so many things I would love to show you, but I'm just picking a few things, warm
ups and some staccato, legato things.
And then [D] this is my favorite key to play in this G, because then you get the open G strings.
[A] There's been some licks that I had done online before, different
[E]
[A#m] [G#m] That kind of staccato stuff.
And it is really [F#] cool.
[A#] What's cool about it is because you're using the open [G#m] strings.
[A] [G#m] [F#] Even [B]
[F#] [G#m] [F#m]
[F#]
[C] [F#] just that right there.
[C] [B] [F#m] [B]
[C] [F#m] [F#] [C#m] [G#]
[F#m] [F#]
[A]
[F#] [D#] [B] [F#]
So that one [N] right there, let's start on the fifth fret on the [C#] A string.
[F#]
[C] [B] [D]
[F#] [C] [B] [A] [F#]
[C] [B] [D] [F#]
[C#] Just pedaling off of the open G.
[F#] [C] [B]
[F#] [G#] [B] [F#] [B]
[F#m] [B] [F#]
[B]
[F#] [E] [F#] [E] [F#]
[B] [F#m] [F#]
[B] [A] [F#]
[C#m] [F#] [C#] Another [D] thing, all these [F#m] pentatonic licks incorporated with the open strings are really nice.
You can stay pentatonic just doing
[A#m] But sometimes throwing in that open string makes it [Em] [B] special.
[F#m]
[N] [G] Open.
But that staccato thing, starting on the fifth fret on the [F#] D string, [C#m]
[F#] [C#m] [F#] [F#m] [E] skipping down to the
[C#m] G string, [F#m]
[C#] [F#] [F#]
[D] down to the [C#] original lick I showed.
[F#m] You
[F#] [C] [B] [F#]
[D#m] [A]
[C#m]
can [D] morph it into a [F#m] diatonic.
[E] [B]
[G#] [C#]
[G#]
[A#] I just kind of [G#m] morphed it from G minor [F#m] into D major.
[F#]
[C#] [F#m]
[C#] [F#m]
[G#m] [C#]
[G#] [C#]
[A] [F#] D major.
[C#] G [G] is my favorite key for all [G#m] this.
[B]
[A#] [F#] [B] [A]
[D#] Up to that position.
[C#m] [F#m]
[G#] [A] [F#]
[N]
It's a high bend on the upper G pentatonic.
So anyway, I hope you learned some things as there were some things that sprouted some ideas.
In any key, really, you can use the open strings.
Sometimes even in A or whatever works out.
If you're playing in [A#] B, for example,
[C#] [F#]
[A#m] [Fm] [G#]
[A#] [F#]
[C#]
[A#m] [N]
B, so using open strings in B or [G#] in A, [G#m]
[C#] [D] [G#m]
just experiment
with it and have fun with it.
I hope you enjoyed this.
I did.
Thank you so much.
