Having fun once again here at the [G] Music Zoo, Roslyn, New York, with Godin Guitars.
This is the Multi-Act.
Actually, this is a very unique instrument.
It joins the body here, right here at the 12th fret, so you get more of a feeling of
a classical guitar, which also means the bridge has been pushed into the body or the top of
the guitar, and so you're going to get a bigger sound [E] out of the top.
[A]
[Db] Now, they also partnered with Larry Fishman on a very unique idea.
It [E] actually has four [A] different mics simulated, [Em] and if you turn just the mic part, you can
[E] hear these digital simulated microphones, and [B] they actually recorded with [Ebm] four different
mics, and [E] sometimes I don't feel like an expert, more of just a little spurt here, but I think
there are two different Neumanns and a B&K and also a Schepps that [A] they recorded.
And [B] [A]
so what I did here before [Gb] we started, I actually went down the line and listened
to the different sounding mics,
[E]
and here's another one here.
[A]
[E]
Now that's just the mic sounds, not the piezo pickups here.
[A] [B]
[E] But when you take [Dbm] something like this, [B]
and [Dbm] then here's just the [E] piezo system,
[A] [B]
[Ebm] and then
when you marry [D] the two together like this, you know, let me just get a lower tuning,
and again, these guitars love these lower tunings.
[A]
[D] [D]
[Em]
[Bb]
[Eb] Wow, what [Cm] a rich sound.
Change the sound of the [D] mics?
[A] [Bm]
[E]
[A]
[Eb] [D]
[Am] [D]
Wow, I just love the sound of this guitar.
[G] Now if you turn this down to a G, tune it down to a G, [D] [G]
and with the elongated headstock
here and the straight string pull, it also allows this guitar to stay in tune when you're lowering these.
Most guitars, if you lower these strings down [C] to a G and a C, everything else just gets
all out of whack.
But listen.
[G] [D] [D]
[Gb] [G]
[C]
[F]
[Eb] [D]
[Dm] [G]
[C] [Em]
[Fm] [G]
Change it up [C] a little [G] bit?
[C]
[G]
[A] [C]
[G]
As far as just to get such a great sound, such a wide dynamic range too, for one small guitar.
[F] And also the solid top, and it's not just chambered, but it's actually braced on the
top, and so you just get a great sound, and with also the advantage of a pickup system,
and you can just run it through the house, you can get up and stand and play and not
have to think about anything else.
And folks, that means it's a great guitar and a great instrument.
Thanks to Robert Godin.
Also especially the Music Zoo, I feel like a rock star today.
Raza, New York folks, you gotta see this place.
