Hello, this is Jack Ferguson of Appalachian Flutes and Dalsimers.
I'm going to do a short video on how to tune a standard four-string dalsimer
in the tuning mode DAD.
_ I have it tuned now _ _ out of tune, as you [N] can tell,
and I'm using a phone app on my iPhone,
which I like better than the clip-ons.
_ Clip-ons have their use as well, but this is good for tuning.
So, I've got it tuned a little out.
I need to go ahead now and get it in tune
_ using the tuners on the head of my dalsimer for fine tuning.
_ _ You need to make sure first, before you start tuning or turning the strings,
_ that you test and see where each string is set
so that [F] you don't end up going too far and popping a string.
So, let's start now with the top melody string, which is D4.
The second melody string is the same, D4.
The middle string is A3, and the bass string [D] is _ D3.
_ _ [B] So, now let's start with the melody string. _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ It says tune up, _ and you'll see it start to turn [D] green as it's in tune.
