Shehan Tamo [B] and welcome to Dulce America.
My name is Bing Futch and it's just about St.
Patrick's Day [N] and I try and offer up a little Celtic music.
And this year I'm going to do two pieces.
One for some of our beginner to early intermediate viewers and then one that's a bit more difficult.
We'll start off with this one.
This is called Loch Lomond.
[D] It's a beautiful little piece and we'll start things off here.
And a [N] lot of this is done against the drone.
Alright, so let's pick it up from the beginning.
[Em] Okay, [Am] and watch.
[Em] [D]
[Bm]
[D]
[G]
G major chord [D] into a D major chord.
Pick up note on the melody string, sliding up [Em] to an E minor.
[C] Walking [F#m] down the melody string with the thumb, going to a B [Bm] minor.
0-1-2, coming out of that.
Playing out of a G major formation.
Going to pick up our melody notes.
Make sure you keep the B on the middle string where it is.
[G]
[Bm]
Walking down with my thumb on the melody [G] string.
[Bm] Got my ring finger coming in on the 1 [G] or even a bar there to begin with.
[Bm] [Em]
[Bm] Then release to go open.
And then I'm coming [Am] in with kind of a hammer on with a 3-1-0 chord.
So instead of just playing the 3-1-0, [G]
I'm playing 3-0-0 and then hammering in on the
first fret on the middle string.
Kind of a neat [Bm] little flourish you got there.
And then [D] that's
[G]
4-2 I'm doing there after the 3-3-5 G chord.
[D] [Bm] 4-2, kind of catching that with my [G] ring finger.
The ring finger [Am] being very handy in this tune.
1-0-1-A chord.
[D] And we do basically the exact same thing, only [G#] this time instead of playing it straight,
we've got a dotted eighth note and sixteenth note combination that's giving it that sort
of push-pull [D] shuffle swing going on like this.
[G] But this time we're playing [D] F-sharp minor 2-2 [F#m]-4.
Nice and dramatic change from the D major we [A#m] played before and [D] then pretty much the
[A] same on the way out.
[Em]
[Am] [Bm]

A great little tune for those of you out there who are on your way on your mountain dulcimer
journey and on the next episode [G#m] we'll be doing Kesh Jig [N] which is all about the fiddle pick
style [D#] and we'll have some fun with that for [G] our advanced, intermediate and advanced players.
Until then, [Bm] Shabbat [A] Shalom!
