[G] [Ab]
[C] [N] Alright, I am the Tiger from Survivor.
You got it?
I am Finbar of Finbar Bass.
Okay, so what are those bass videos all about down when you click on the YouTube text box right there?
Well, bass playing is kind of a time of discovery, you know?
It's like an adventure.
You're learning new stuff all the time.
You're increasing your chops.
You're getting better, right?
So we need to practice bass.
And when we're practicing, you know, and learning all these different techniques like through
these videos, why not make it fun, right?
I mean that's great.
If you can actually get better on the bass, you know, and learn all these different songs
or techniques or whatever, and you know, and have fun doing it instead of just doing it
through, you know, repetitious, you know, study, then that's a fantastic thing.
Then that's fun.
You're doing it through something that you love.
You're doing it through music.
And that makes it just so much easier to do and so much better.
So don't forget to click on the clicker box right down there in the YouTube text box.
I think it's really going to help you out.
Alright, so the first [C] thing that,
[G] [Ab] [C]
right?
What was that?
That is you're going to hit on the third fret of the A, one shot, right?
Then on the A string, you're going to do 3-1-3.
So you got to deal with one finger so you can see it really well.
And you repeat that.
One more hit on that third fret, and then you're going to do [Ab]
[G] third fret of the E.
I'm sorry.
Yeah, third fret of the E and then fourth fret of the E.
So I'll play the whole thing [C] slow.
Alright, repeat.
[Bb] That [C]
[G] [Ab] [E] was the third fret and the fourth fret of the E there.
Then the next thing you're going to hear that they do is they're just riding on that third
fret of the A [C] string.
And what you're going to do here is you're not letting those notes all run together.
You're going to play staccato, right?
So I'm pressing down and then not [A] bringing my finger completely off the [C] string, but releasing
pressure
[D] just like that.
So you're going to ride on that third fret there on the A string.
Then you're going to [C] move to the third fret of the E and then the fourth fret of the E
just like we did in the intro.
So you're going to hearwell, wel this is still part of the intro, but just like we just did before with theyou'reyo [Ab] going to hear them [C] riding, right, just on that third fret of the A string [Ab] and [C] to the fourth fret. [Bb]
That's something you're going to hear in this song quite a bit. You're going to playthey'rethe riding on that third fret of the A string, of course. [Bb] [E] And what that is, what it sounds [F] like to me, [E] he's hitting the E, open E, [G] hammering on to that first fret [Em] [Bb] [E] and then hammering on to the third fret. So what I mean by that is pluck that open E string, right? Pluck it and then you're going to come down percussively with your pointer and you can use your pinky. [G] That's too much of a stretch for you. So I use my pointer and my third finger [E] just like [G] that. Notice [E] I'm only plucking once, [G] [E] but then I'm hitting the first fret and [G] the third fret right there with this hand, smacking down on those strings percussively but not plucking. [Bb] [N] And then you're going to hit the first fret of the A string. [C] So you gotjustju [Bb]
like that. [C] For the verses of this song, you're going to be once again riding on that third fret of the A, [Ab] [A] then you're going to move to the fourth fret of the E and then first [C] fret of the A. [Ab] [Bb]
[C] [A] And then you're just going to hit that third fret three times and then you're going to do one more time of that [Bb] little hammer on routine. So that right there whole thing, if I just did it all together, sounds like [C] this from the verses. [Ab] [Bb] [C]
[D] Just like that. For the chorus where he's singing, it's the Eye of the Tiger, [F] you're going to switch down to the first fret of the E string. For one measure, you're going to hit that four times. [Ab] [Bb] [Abm]
Then you're going to hit the fourth fret of the E two times and then the first fret of the A two [F] times. So you [Ab] [Bb] gotandan then you're going to hit the first fret of the [F] E again. [C] [Bb] [F] And now in this next part, you can either hit these staccatoif you want to follow the drums, you're going to be very staccato on these for the chorus just like we were on the other parts. But if you want to more follow the guitar, you're going to let the notes ring out. So it depends on whether you want more bottom with the drums or you want to follow the guitar on this. It's your preference and whatever you're playing with other people, whatever they're doing. [Ab] [Bb] [F] [Bb]
[F] So there I hit that third fret of the A and then first fret of the A as well once again. So far for the chorus. [Bb] [F] [Bb]
[D] Then you're going to go back to that [F] first fret and [Ab] [Bb] [F] repeat that. That was the fourth fret of the E and first fret of the A. And that's the point where he sings that he's watching us all with the eye of the tiger. Watching us all with the eye. If you want to have some fun with that and sort of play along, [C] what [F] you could do is say you're on the third fret, this is the D string and you alternate between the third, second and third. [E] [G] Go up to the fifth [F] fret, back to the [Gm] third, back to the [F] fifth. So you got [E] [F] [G] [F] right and [G] [C] then you're going to slide all the way up to that tenth fret of the D string. [Bb] [F] Hit it like that. So you got [C] [A] just like that.
