Alright, Jason Mraz, I'm yours.
Let's get right into it, but before I do, you can [Ab] click on the little clicker box down
there and get three free bass lessons that aren't on YouTube at [Eb] all.
So the thing about this song [G] is the bass [Gb]
line [Ab] hits in a very odd place.
If you're having trouble following it, it's really best to just know [A] the song really well
and then you'll know where the bass hits.
So you're going to start off by plucking [Gb] two notes on the 7th fret of the E string.
Just like that, it'd be like, if you count this 1 and 2 and [N] 3 and 4, it'd be 1 and, just like that.
The first one's a little bit staccato and the second one's a little bit more drawn out.
Just [Bb] like that.
[B]
Now the next part, he hits two notes on the 7th fret, just like that, but the first one
is a 16th note and
[F] basically the way you would count this is if you're counting 1 [B] and
2 and 3 and, those two notes come just before the and after the 3.
So 1 and 2 and 3 and, just like that.
[Ab] If you're counting 1 and 2 and 3 and, it actually comes in on the 3 and, comes in right before the and.
So, [N] really easy way to do this is just listen to the song, know the song by heart and you'll
get where that bass comes in.
But if you're not used to it and you're just trying to figure it out and you don't exactly
understand that timing, that's where those two notes come in.
They come in right on the, if you count 1 and a 2, so you could count 1 and 2 and 3,
but if you want to get more notes in there, 1 and a 2 and a 3 and a, and where this note
comes in [Ab] on is the 3 and [Bbm] then it comes in on the E.
[Ab] You got E and a, it comes in on
the E, 3 E and a, right there.
It's not on the [Bbm] and, 3 and, it's right [Eb] before.
So if that's messing you up, [N] that's why.
So but anyway, he plays those two notes on the 7th fret, right here.
So it's going to sound like.
And then, he [D] hits two, there's a pause, [Ab] and he hits two notes on the 7th fret [Gb] of the A
string, [E]
followed by the 8th fret [Eb] and then the 9th starts the kind of, the [N] circle over again.
So it goes, [E] and then it goes, [Gbm] [Bb] right?
So these two frets on, the two notes on the 9th fret [A] are kind of like the frets, the notes
on the 7th [Ab] fret.
[Gbm]
[E] Sorry.
[Gbm]
Just like that.
[G] And then the timing starts all over again when he's just starting on the 9th [Gb] fret.
So that's going to go, and 2 [C] and 3 [Gb]
and, [Eb] just like that.
So there's two hits you just [Db] did on the 9th [C] fret, and then you're going to do two more
hits on the 9th fret, but quicker.
[Gb] So it's going to sound like.
Just like that.
And then you're going to go from the 9th fret to the 10th fret to the 11th fret.
And then the 11th fret [Ab] is going to start the measure.
So it [Db] sounds like this.
[Ab]
Just like that.
[G] Then you're going to hit two quick ones on the 11th fret, but you're going [Ab] to stay on
that, [Gb] then play a little ghost note, then play the 9th fret, and then the [Bb] 7th fret.
[Ab] [E]
[Ab] [E]
And then you're [A] going to play the 7th fret of the E string [E] and then the 7th fret of the
A string quick.
[G] Just like that.
Then you're going to play again the 7th fret of the A [Gb] string, followed by the 9th fret
of the A string.
[Gb]
[N] And then it starts all over again.
Then when he does his little scat part, scooch on a little closer to me, what he's playing
there is he's [Gm] playing, basically he's doing a descending bass line, starting with the
[B] 7th fret of the E string, [Bb] [A] then the 6th fret, [G] and then he's hitting the 4th fret, [Gb] 2nd [F] fret,
then go back up to the [E] 7th fret of [Em] the A string.
So it starts with the 7th of the [Bb] E, [A] 6th,
[G] [D] 2nd, [F] [E]
and then you're going to go up to the 7th
of the A string.
[Em] And then he does that a [A] couple times and then goes up to the [F] 8th [D] of the [Gb] A string.
I know that doesn't sound good without him singing, but it sounds good [Bb] in a song if you
sing along with it.
[B]
Alright, Jason Mraz, I'm [Dm] yours.

[Gb]
[N] And then it starts all over again.

then go back up to the [E] 7th fret of [Em] the A string.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [Gbm] _

of the A string.
[Gb] _
_ _ [N] And then it starts all over again. _

then _ _ _ go back up to the [E] 7th fret _ of _ _ [Em] the A string.

_ _ [G] _ _ _ _ [D] 2nd, _ _ [F] _ _ _ _ _ [E] _
and then you're going to go up to the 7th _ _
