Alright, BB King, [Am] yo!
[G#] The thrill is gone, fantastic song, really really nice easy bass line to play, you're
just going to chill with this and play it.
BB King, freaking amazing, the man that could make one note sound like basically an epic saga.
So you are going to really have a lot of fun playing this because it's actually really
simple, it's not going to take you long to learn, you're going to be rolling with it
very very soon.
Anyway, I am Finn Barr of Finn Barr Bass.
Alright so what are those lessons all about down there when you click in the YouTube text
box right down there?
You should definitely do that if you haven't already.
There are some really fun lessons for beginners on there, there's one for intermediate, for
more advanced players.
For instance, there's a lesson on the floating thumb technique, right?
Which is a cool right hand, or actually a plucking hand technique I should say, if you're
lefty it would be your left hand, righty it would probably be your right hand.
But it's a way to mute the strings out, to keep your hand in a natural position, it's
the way that I play bass, I love it a lot, it's not the only way of course, but these
tips and tricks can kind of catapult you sort of like into the next level, make your playing
sound more professional and make those notes really ring [A#] out.
It's helped a lot of people out, and that's just one of the lessons, that's just an example.
But it's basically again about having fun, getting better on the bass and playing some music.
Alright so you're going to be alternating between, [B] [G#]
just like that, and what I'm doing
there I'm on the first fret of the A string and then second [A#] fret,
[F#] hit the first fret once
and then, this is the A string, first fret once and then second fret [B] twice, right?
[F] [F#] And [F] you're going to do the same thing on the E string, [B] just like that.
And then you're going to do something a little bit different, you're going to hit the second
fret of the A string, [D#] and that just gets you into the next [E] groove, which is you're going
to be on the first fret of the [A] D and then second fret of the D.
So it's all very simple, I'll just play the whole [B] thing so far.
[A#] [F]
[B] [E] [Gm] Just like that, you know, it's [F#] pretty standard blues.
[B] And then you're going to go [D] back into the [C#] normal pattern, you're going to [D] hit the open
D string, or you could hit the fifth fret of the A string [D] of course, but [C#] open D, fourth
fret of the [B] A string, and then you're going to hit two of the second fret of the A string again.
[A#] [F#]
And that puts you into the original pattern [F] again.
So we play all that together, I won't play all of the first part, but you can just follow along.
[A#]
[E]
[B]
[G#] And that's the coolest part right there, this change is really fantastic.
[A] You're going to hit the second fret of the A, that open A, [B] right?
[G]
Two hits on that, this rhythm right here, [D#] that's kind of like the signature [G] of this bass line.
[A#] Everything is kind of in that rhythm.
[F#] [A] [G] Two hits close together.
So [A] anyway, you've got second fret of the A [G] open, third fret [C] of the E string, [G] right?
And then you're just going to pretty much work with this G chord right here.
You're going to go up from the, that's the root of the G right here, fifth and the octave,
but you don't need to know that.
All you've got to do is just hit, right?
So you're hitting this twice, third fret of the E, then you're going to hit the [F] fifth
fret of the A string, and then twice [G] on its octave, which is the fifth fret of the D string.
Right?
So, [B] so far you've got
[G]
Do it really slow.
[A] [G]
[F#] Check this out.
[B] That's [E] cool, you're going to hit the fourth fret of the A string, and [F#] then the fourth
fret [A] of the D string, [D#] and of course when you hit that D string you're [F#] going to hit it twice.
[B] So far, [G]
[F#] [E] back to the fourth fret of the A string, [B] and then to the second fret.
I'll do it really slow.
[G]
[F#] Fourth frets, [C#m]
back to the fourth fret of the A, [F#] and two hits on the second fret of the E.
[B] [F] And you're back into [F#] your
[B] And then you're going to do a turnaround, [A#] [F#]
[C] right?
Really cool, old, very standard [F#] bluesy.
[A#] [E]
Two hits on the second fret, two hits on the second fret of the E, two hits on the open
A, [A] [A#] and two hits on the first fret of the [A] A.
[F#] [D] And you're back into it all over again.
So if I play just from the last part there
[F] [B]
[G] [F#]
Just like that.
And then you're back in.
[B]
[F#] [B]
Just like that.
Alright, you got some B.B. King, freaking master of the blues, fantastic [Em] song, very,
very chill, very, very fun, easy, basic bass line to get down, get you into [A#] the blues.
