[B] Hey, what's up you guys?
Marty Schwartz here, GuitarJams.com, hanging out with one of our very first friends that
we ever had, [Dm] Papa Stache.
[C#] Yeah!
[E] Yeah!
[F] I'll let you guys know real quick, Brett's gonna be picking three comments to win his
brand new beginner acoustic DVD set.
So there's a link for it down in that link down there.
We're gonna [Am] pick three comments to win that set for free.
Real excited.
[B]
Super excited.
You got your [E] own set and it [F] takes you from grabbing the guitar for the first time, six
DVDs, bonuses, memberships to Guitar Jams, memberships to Next Level Guitar, [N] all that
stuff coming your way, teaching people how to play guitar.
And right now we're gonna give you a free lesson.
So three comments.
Funnier the better.
Love funny.
Good times.
So three comments and then Brett's gonna break [D] down, since his set is a [C] beginner set, we're
gonna do a beginner [G] progression.
I was playing it without [B] the capo, it had some tricky bar chords.
This is it.
You can play the exact [F] same thing by putting the capo on there and use all the [C] more beginner chords.
So we'll [E] break it down.
Magic.
_ Yes.
Yes.
[Em] Alright, so now you get to work.
Alright.
[E] Alright, so let's speed it up a little bit.
It's a very simple pattern but it's kinda cool, right?
It's [F] kinda that old school western.
There's a lot of [E] newer bands that [Bm] kinda have that Irish feel too [F#] so it's a great strum
pattern for that kind of music as well.
All's it is is a very basic pattern so let's zoom in and break it down.
_ Alright so let's break down that strum pattern.
It's a really easy one but very effective.
[Em] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
So what we're doing is [E] we're basically coming in on the low part of the chord. _
[Em] _ We do one on the lower strings and then a strum across all of the strings.
_ Down up down up down _ _ _ [F#] down down down up.
_ _ _ [G#] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [F#] Right?
Or down up down up down up down down up.
Or _ down _ _ _ _ _ up down up down up down up.
Now [Em] you can see my arm moving but a lot of the speed and the feel comes from [F] moving your
[F#] wrist too, right?
So it's not just like this [E] going back and forth with your arm.
You wanna get the wrist in there.
[Em] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ So when I wanna hit the whole chord basically my arm's coming in to help get across the
strings but my wrist is doing the majority of the work. _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [Am] _ _
_ _ _ [Em] _ Now on that particular progression I'm just going back and forth between E minor and [Am] A minor. _
And then those two ending chords was [C] I just took a C chord and then I kept the C shape
and I moved [D] it up to the D. _
Very cool sounding chord, right?
Exact [Em] same strings, exact same everything.
You're still not hitting the low E.
[C] Play it just like a C chord, move it up [D] a whole step.
_ _ Real open purdy sounding chord.
Alright so [Em] we got. _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [Am] _ _ _
_ _ [Em] _ _ _ _ _ _
So what I've [D] done is I've started with four times through the pattern [F#] on the E minor chord.
Then I go [B] two on the A minor, two on the E minor and [C] then I go _ _ [G] _ _ _
[D] _ [Em] one on each of the C [E] and
the D.
Okay [Em] so we got.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [Am] _ _ _ _ _ _
[Em] _ _ _ _ _ [C] _ _ _
[E] _ _ [Em] _ _ _ _ Right?
Now that's slow.
Now up to speed it would be something like this. _ _ _ _
_ _ [Am] _ _ _ _ [Em] _ _
_ _ _ [G] _ _ [Em] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [Am] _ _ _ _
[Em] _ _ _ _ _ [G] _ _ [Em] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [Am] _ _
_ _ [Em] _ _ _ And it's basically just a really cool way to get the strumming going quicker.
You get a little bit more aggressive in your strumming.
You don't have to worry so much about [D] muting or anything.
It's just kind of a nice free for all strum pattern where you really can get into it.
Really kind of get dynamic with how you're hitting the [Em] strings. _ _ _
You can accent different parts of the strum pattern. _
_ _ _ Really accentuate that second downstroke.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [Am] _
_ _ [Em] _ _ _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ [Em] _ _ _ _ _
We're keeping it nice and simple, nice [N] and mellow as far as the pattern difficulty.
And we're really allowing you to be [G] expressive with this one.
So go for it. _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [Em] _ _ _ _ [C] _
_ _ [Em] _ _ _ _ [Am] _ _
_ _ [C] _ _ _ [Em] _ _ _
[B] Hey, what's up you guys?

Or down up down up down up down down up.

Now [Em] you can see my arm moving but a lot of the speed and the feel comes from [F] moving your

the D.
Okay [Em] so we got.
