[Am] Welcome back to Relax [Eb] and Learn Guitar.
I'm Kevin and this is Maggie Mae.
My wife Vicky's behind the camera.
Hello.
Let's get started on these great song lessons.
[G] So if you're looking to get into [E] some fingerstyle guitar or maybe you've had a little bit of
a break [Eb] from it and you want to [Am] get back into it, these are four [Eb] great songs for [Ab] that.
Vicky's going to leave a link in the [Ebm] description below with the full song lesson.
So I'm going to show you kind of why I like these songs and what's great about them.
[C] And you can check out the [G] full song lessons when you're finished with this video.
First up, we have a little Simon and Garfunkel.
You can't get much [F] more classic than this.
And if anything, it's just to learn that.
[Eb] Really pretty [E] and it's just an alternating.
We are using a capo on the [Ebm] sixth fret for [Dbm] this version of the song.
[Ebm] And the song's built [Db] around an A minor and a G.
[G] This little [Eb] intro part is just alternating your thumb here with your, you're playing
with your middle [C] finger on the third string, second fret.
And [E] then the strings two and one are open.
So you're just doing an alternating [Eb] thumb one, two, one, thumb one, two, one.
Those are finger numbers.
[B] There's also a really [Gb] cool walk down [Bbm] just [Ebm]
[Gb] from a C to [Ebm] an A minor that I really like
in there as well.
So definitely [G] check out Sound of Silence.
There's [N] also, you can also play the song like part [Db] finger picking and then also strum part
of the song too.
So definitely check it out.
[Eb] Next up, we have a little Ain't No Sunshine.
Bill Weathers, another classic song.
I like this one a lot [Am] because you get to [B] use some open [Am] chords.
There's an A minor, there's an [Em] E minor, a [G] G.
[D] Also throws in a D minor in there.
So open chords, no capo.
[Gb] And I like this one because you [Eb] get to use [Bb] your thumb and also your picking [E] fingers.
Fingers one, two, and three [Ab] rest on strings three, two, and one [Am] for this whole song.
[G] [C] Oh, not to mention [Am] that.
[G] [Em]
A little slap, [E] just a nice percussive touch.
So it's really good for like playing solo acoustic and singing [Gbm] it.
Ain't no sunshine when [Am] she's gone.
[G] [Am] It's not warm when she's away.
Ain't no sunshine [E] when she's gone.
She's always [D] gone too long.
Anytime she [Am] goes away.
Definitely [N] check that one out too.
Two really great songs there.
Yeah, and we got [Ab] two more to go.
If you like this video [Eb] and find it helpful, we would really appreciate it if you would hit that subscribe button and [Cm] check out more lessons in the future.
So next up, we have a [D] little.
[G] Is that R.E..M.? Oh, yes, it is. Big fan of R.E..M. And I don't know [Gb] if I would classify this as classic rock, but like [G] the radio station does. So getting a little bit older, getting a little [D] up there. [Ebm] This is Everybody Hurts [A] by R.E..M. No capo [D] needed. Another all open chord song. D [G] and G. [D] The nice, slow and steady. [G] [D] And a very common finger picking pattern you can use in a ton of songs. [Gb] Also [E] has some cool walk downs. [Em] [A] [G] [Em] Just an [Eb] all around great song. Maybe not [E] one you might be super familiar with, but definitely one you should learn anyway. So check [Ab] that one out too. And for our fourth song, beautiful Jeff [Db] Buckley, Hallelujah. The most probably popular and most well-known [F] version of this song. We're going [B] back to the capo here on the fifth fret. I like this one a lot too. There [C] is a. [Am] [C] [Am] It's just nice. It is super nice. [C] And [E] the thing with finger style [G] is you can be as kind of subtle or as [F] aggressive as you like. These songs, this one [Ebm] particularly, really lends itself to being a nice slow pace. And when it sounds really [Db] good on acoustic guitar, even though the record he [C] plays electric. [Eb] And if anything, it's just to learn that [C] little G [Am] walk down to E minor. [C] [Am] That gets kind of repeated in the like intro and in between the verses. Just a [N] really, really nice one. So definitely check that one out as well. Another one that is very similar to the REM tune with kind of the finger picking pattern. That's very common in a lot of songs. So that's four great finger picking songs for you. [Gb] Remember the links for the full lessons are in the [A] description below. [B] Next up, check out this playlist I put together for you with some of my popular acoustic classic rock songs. And until [F] our next lesson, well [Eb] actually, remember that Vicki, Maggie and I very much appreciate your support here on [B] YouTube and the views. It's been amazing. And until [Eb] our next lesson, remember, you're [Am] never too old to learn. [G] [Am] [N]
