_ _ [Am] [Em] Hey guys, so today we're going to learn different approaches on the four and on the four minor.
[E] These are movements that I heard from Eddie [D] Brown and Alan Merrill and [Em] Mike Burrell.
So I hope you guys enjoy.
Also in the near future, we're going to be posting [E] some NAMM videos that _ we got.
We had the [Em] privilege to go to NAMM last week.
So [E] we have a lot of material for you guys.
So I hope you guys enjoy and let's get started.
Alright guys, so we're going to break down _ [G] movements going from the four to the four minor.
[Am] _ So that's movement number one.
We hear [A] this a lot in gospel music, in talk music, and in [Am] songs.
_ [G] _ _
[Am] _ _ [E] So that's the first movement.
So _ after [G] I'm going from the four, [A] I'm doing this chord.
It's an [Am] E, A, and B flat.
And on the right hand, I'm going from the A and the [Gm] C to the G [Am] and the B flat.
_ [E] _ So pretty simple.
[C] _ _ [G] _ _ _ [E] _ _ _
[Em] So I just want to stay here just for a little bit.
And I just wanted to show you guys some different melodies or ideas that I heard.
This first one is from Eddie [Am] Brown.
Using that same chord, he went like [G] this.
_ [Am] _ _
_ _ _ So that one, he goes from [Eb] the F sharp to the G, B flat, [Gb] walk down to the E flat, [Ab] to the C.
[G] And then he goes, _ _ he brings the G to the A, [Gm] and then he just walks down B flat, A, and [Gb] G.
So [Am] _ _ _
_ another melody that I like on that same movement or that same chord is_
_ _ _ So that one's just going from the B flat to the C, [E] _ brings it down to the B flat, [A] G to the A, [Gm] and then back to the G.
[Em] _ _ So you can use all these melodies on that chord.
_ _ [G] _ _ [Am] _
_ _ _ [Bm] _ _ _ [Em] _ _
_ And then since we're on melodies, there's a scale that you can also use.
_ [G] _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ [G] _ So that scale [E] is G, F sharp, [Am] E, D, [E] C, [A] B flat, A, and G.
And I'm just messing around [E] with_
_ [G] _ _
[E] _ _ [Gm] _ [Em] So those are just basically melodies.
And I encourage you to [Gb] just mess around with [Bb] melodies using those notes.
Corey Henry does it a lot.
So I encourage you, he does things [E] like_ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [D] _ _
_ _ So [N] I encourage you to just mess around with those different melodies.
And yeah, so let's get started with the first movement. _
So this first movement that I'm going to show you is from Eddie Brown.
And he did it on a song, The Promise.
And you can use this mainly for talk music or you can implement it on a song.
But it [D] goes like this.
_ _ _ [G] _ _
_ _ [C] _ [Gm] _ _ _ [Abm] _ _
_ [B] Let me do that again.
It [D] goes_
[G] _ _
_ _ [C] _ [Gm] _ _ _ [Abm] _ _
_ _ _ [E] _ _ So when he gets to [G] that four, he's going _ [D] _
_ [G] _ _ _ [E] _ to this, which is an E and a B flat on the left.
And on the right hand, it's E, G, I'm [Am] sorry, E, A, and C.
And then [Gm] he's going to the D, G, and B flat.
[Gbm] He walks it down to the C sharp, F sharp, and A.
And [Gm] then he goes back to the G, the D, G, and B flat.
[Bbm] And then he goes to this [F] chord.
So on the left hand, [Ab] it's A flat, [F] F, and B.
[Bbm] And on the right hand, it's an F, [Db] _
the A flat to [Bbm] the B flat, and then a C sharp.
So _
_ _ [Gm] _ _ _ _ _ [F] _
_ [D] _ _ _ [G] _ _ [D] _ _
_ _ [Db] _ _ [Abm] _ _ _ [E] _
_ _ _ _ movement number two is by Alan Merville.
He was doing this with hymns.
This is how the movement goes.
_ [Eb] _ _ [Dm] _ _ _ _ [A] _
_ _ _ So this is another movement you can use talk music or you can implement it on a song.
So it goes A, [Gbm]
F sharp, and C sharp, but I'm pushing the E to the F sharp.
_ [G] Then I'm bringing it the whole step to B flat.
Then it's F sharp and G, and then the [A] D.
_ [Bb] Then I'm bringing down the B to the B flat.
And on the right hand, I have [Dm] F, G, and D. _
And then I'm [Cm] bringing that to the C, _ G, A flat, and E flat.
_ _ [Bb] Then on my left hand, I have an E flat, B flat, and C.
And then I'm doing an E flat, B flat to the C.
So this is what I have so far.
[Eb] _
And [C] then finally, on the left hand, I have a D, B flat, and C.
[Cm] _ And then I'm moving the F to the G with [D] a C on top.
_ And then I'm just walking [Cm] _
the [D] A flat, G, F down.
[Dm] _ _
_ _ [C] _ _ _ _ And then I add this [Gm] movement on it.
_ [Am] _ And this movement you can literally do at the end of every other movement we just learned today.
[Gm] So it's B flat, G, and D.
[E] _ _ G, E, [A] and B flat, and then just to the five.
So what I mean by [E] that, they can add it in any one.
It's [Gb] like the previous ones that we learned. _ _ _
[E] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [N] So those are just some examples.
So I hope you can take these and apply them to the songs or talk music.
And yes, I'll see you guys next video.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

So [Am] _ _ _
_ another melody that I like on that same movement or that same chord is_
_ _ _ So that one's just going from the B flat to the C, [E] _ brings it down to the B flat, [A] G to the A, [Gm] and then back to the G.
[Em] _ _ So you can use all these melodies on that chord.
_ _ [G] _ _ [Am] _
_ _ _ [Bm] _ _ _ [Em] _ _
_ And then since we're on melodies, there's a scale that you can also use.
_ [G] _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _

So _
