[Em] Hello, I'm Mr.

[D] And I'm Ms.
Foreman.
And we [A] know that soon you'll be picking out your classes and [C] electives.
We want [Em] to take the time to talk with you about the amazing [D] opportunities that are available
[E] to you in the music program at FJC.
[C]
[Em] If you're going into ninth grade, you'll be at the [B] Annex and you'll be able to choose
from [E] Concert Band 1 or Jazz Band [C] 1.
[Em]
These classes are geared towards students that have experience in [E] music and have been
playing in band for at [Am] least a year before coming to the high school.
[C]
[Em] In grades 10 through 12, you are able [E] to join the Advanced Jazz [C] Band, the Jazz Combo, as
well as the Wind Ensemble.
[Em] These ensembles are a class period [D] and you're scheduled during the school day.
[F#] We also offer beginner band [Em] classes at both the Annex and the main buildings, where [E] inexperienced
students have the opportunity to get [Am] involved in our program.
For [C] our curricular or [Em] during the day programs, we have two [D] yearly concerts and yearly [Am] festival
performances, which include [C] overnight trips every other year.
[Em] These trips include [D] an adjudicated performance [Am] and then some time at a theme park like Hershey
Park, [C] Six Flags, or Disney World, as well [D] as visiting new cities such as [Am] Boston, Virginia
[C] Beach, or Chicago, [Em] to name a few.
[D] Other trips include [Am] Carnegie Hall, [C] Lincoln Center, [Em] NJPAC, and [D] DCI East, where our [Am] students
get to see [C] music performed at its highest level.
[Em] The jazz bands at [D] FJC compete in [Am] NJAJE State [C] prelims and finals in March [Em] and April every
year, [D] and the Concert Band and Symphonic Band [Am] take part in various local [C] and regional festivals.
[Em]
Outside [F#] of the school day, there are many offerings [C] you can join as well, whether you
attend FJC or not.
In the summer and fall, you [B] can join our five [D]-time National [Am] Championship Marching Band.
[C] We do seven competitions a year, [Em] perform at the football games, and [D] participate in town parades.
[C] This is open to all levels of students and starts with the July program, followed by
an August band camp, [F#] and then the competitive season that lasts until the beginning of [C] November.
Also, if you [Em] want a head start, students going into eighth grade next year [E] are eligible
to join this [Am] group this summer.
[C] There are also [Em] other competitive groups that you can be a part [D] of, which include our [Am] Indoor
Color Guard [C] that compete in eight competitions from [Em] January through April, culminating in
[D] a Mid-Atlantic Indoor Network [Am] Championships and [C] WGI World Championships [Em] in Dayton, Ohio.
[D]
[Am] Another group you can participate in is [C] Indoor Percussion Ensemble.
[Em] This group also competes from February through [D] April.
We have four to five [Am] competitions and U.S. Band's [C] Indoor Championships.
[Em] Indoor Percussion will be competing in [B] WGI Regional Competitions next [G] year, with hopes
of also competing at WGI World Championships [Em] at Dayton, just like the Color Guard in the near [D] future.
[Am] There are a [C] bunch of amazing opportunities here at [Em] FJC and the Elizabeth High School Music [D] Department.
We represent [Em] the town of Elizabeth on the local, state, national, and world stages through

[C] We'd love for you to share your talent with us as a part of the Elizabeth Band's program
