_ And so [D] his son, Sam [Fm] Lea [N] Kalainaina _ _ _ Jr.,
_ he was known as the fiddle man, or the kanaka wailunina.
So when Eddie Kamai, _ he was in search of a song.
And to Iolani Lua Hine, he said, oh, there's a man in Waipio Valley, his name is Sam Lea,
he knows the melody of this particular song.
It's a song entitled, it's a mele entitled [Bb] Waimanalo.
It's written by _ [E] _
Figgs.
_ _ Figgs, that's Kalakaua.
So he was [F] in search of the melody [Dbm] line for this [C] mele.
And so Eddie, [Gb] Anakala Eddie, went to _ _ _ search for him, and [F] he found him.
And then Sam Lea said, [Em] oh, I was waiting [A] for you, you finally arrived.
_ And so he taught him _ _ [D] this, that particular mele, Waimanalo.
And then from there, that pilina _ _ kind of [E] grew.
And [Ebm] so _ Uncle Eddie [F] would go back to Waipio and learn from Sam [Db] Lea, and he would learn
about the, [C] just build that relationship.
Because nowadays we need this type of _ relationships, yeah?
And so in honor [Em] _ _
_ [A] of Sam Lea, _ the sons of Hawaii went to go play _ this [D] particular mele for him.
And Uncle Dennis [Eb] _ Kamakahi wrote this mele [D] for him.
