[G] I fell in love with songwriting.
I met a lot of really cool people when I first moved here
and they're hard workers and to this day
they're still some of my best friends and co-writers.
And one of the guys, actually one of my best friends
in this town is my first co-writer, his name is Matt McKinney.
The first time I moved here, we had to write
with this guy named Bobby Hamrick.
And I had this title called Out Yonder.
And I was like, I don't know what the hell it means.
And he said, well what if it's like
keeping your BS out yonder?
And I was like, I love that, I think that's great.
I'm from a small town, I wish everyone
would keep their BS out yonder, that'd be awesome.
Yes, so I walked out of the room that day
thinking this is probably one of the weirder songs
I've ever written.
And about two weeks later, Sony reached out
and asked if I could pitch it.
About five minutes after that, Elle King put it on hold
and about two weeks after that, she cut it
and then put it out as a single.
So this is my first major label cut,
which led to us having five on the total [F#] record.
[G#] Still [F#] one of the weirder songs I've written though.
I love it.
We like weird around here.
Good, good thing.
All right, it's called Out Yonder.
