[Ab]
[Bb] [Eb] [Fm]
[Db] [G] Musically in the 70s and 80s was to enjoy electric light [F] orchestra, ELO, as they [G] were so well known.
[E] Great music which [D] transcended, one would think, of all age groups and [Am] indeed [E] big sellers [D] right around the world.
Let's have a listen to some of their [Am] magnificent [Em] music.
They won't [Dm] give up, [Em] [Am] cause you ain't got [Em] no [Dm] way, [E] [Am] to stop all [Dm] the news from world.
[Am]
[Em] [Dm] [Em] The [A] great news is that ELO have reformed.
[G] We now enjoy around the world, [E] particularly here in Australia at the moment, ELO part 2 and 2 of the [G] guys.
It's a great pleasure to welcome Kelly [Eb] Groker and Lou [Am] Clark.
[Em] Hi Lou.
[Dm] [Am]
[Dm] It's been a long [G] time Bert.
Yeah.
It's been a long, long time.
What's happened to all the thing?
It went, the [Bb] hair, the hair went.
[C] Oh, alright.
So I shaved the, I shaved the moustache off at the same time in the beard.
Cause it looked like my head was on the upside down.
I [E] suppose a lot of people now, [F] you know, they say, well [N] you're not Kelly.
They do.
Yeah, actually people ask me if I [G] can show them where Kelly is so they can get the autograph.
And I say, that's me, I am.
Now, now.
That'll work for you though in some [D] circumstances.
Yeah, it does actually.
Yeah.
Well it's great to have the band here [G] in Australia.
When was it reformed, Lou?
Um, about [N] 1990 I think we made [Eb] the ELO part 2 album.
[Gb] [F] And we went on the road in [G] 1991 and we've been working pretty well solidly since then.
Right.
You were there right from the start.
No, well I joined [F] in 1974.
I [Eb] held right up with all the string [G] arrangements and conducted the orchestra and I was [F] involved in the studio right through.
Then I actually came on the road with the [E] band.
[F] You were there from day one, weren't [E] you?
I was there from almost day [Ab] one, from 1974.
But you were certainly there when you [A] left, the band took off. Oh yeah.
[Gb] All the way through the [D] big years, yeah.
What do you think, I mean apart from [F] the fact that it [D] is just great music and enjoyed by all age group.
What do you think the real appeal was?
Was there nothing like that around at that time?
Because it really [G] did, it came in vroom, didn't it?
[A] I think it probably, it took [Bb] over from where [G] the Beatles had left.
Had left off, you know, they were going into this orchestral thing.
And it was unique, it was unique in the [D] fact that it was a sort of [G] big orchestral arrangement.
As opposed to sort of little string pieces that you [Dm] get on some [Gb] songs.
You know, [G] these were real big, lush, [N] orchestrated parts.
Basically a band with an orchestra.
Yeah, yeah it was.
And not just a few woodwinds, it was a complete [Eb] full-synth orchestra.
I had some people discussing on radio just [F] recently, the difference [Eb] between bands and orchestras.
[N]
And I think they got it wrong, but in my background in radio, when I was a kid I was taught that an orchestra is one thing, it's a string.
You know, that makes an orchestra, as against the old terminology of band.
Am I right?
That's what I'd call it.
Yeah, the orchestra [Gb] is an orchestra.
It's a player, it's capable of [F] a whole couple of [G] things.
You mentioned before, you had your [N] work cut out because that really was a mammoth task, wasn't it?
Yeah, you know, that's what I do.
It's no big deal for me.
I [Eb] just [F] enjoy doing it.
But a great opportunity [C] though, yeah.
With the [Em] resurgence of the band now as [D] DLO Part 2, which I think is a lovely name.
Better than Revisited, better than forming again.
Part 2, [N] it means that it's continuing and this is just the second half.
[E] Same sort of reaction around the world, people still enjoying that sort [Ab] of music?
Yeah, we've always been very, [G] [E]
[G] [Eb] I don't know, in this case.
[D] Well, you know, of course, you blokes were very, very big in terms [Ab] of record sales in Australia.
I [D] think per capita, [Eb] I think we'd be probably [C] just as important an [Db] audience as any [Ab] country in the world.
[Gm] I would have thought so, yes.
Because the sound's just phenomenal.
[C] Let's have a listen to [D] the music we enjoy today from DLO [Am] Part 2.
[G] [Ab] [Bb]
[C] [Am]
[C] [Ab]
[Bb] [C] [G] Kelly, that's not you lying in the sand, is it?
[Ab] Certainly not me lying in the sand.
[C] I'm much prettier than that.
Well, [Gb] it's just that in Australia [Ab] we have some dates here for [G] DLO Part 2.
And I do recommend to you, I haven't seen one of the concerts [D] as yet, but I will be doing that this week.
There are the dates for Melbourne tonight and tomorrow night and Wednesday night [F] at the Atlanta Spark.
And [Eb] then Adelaide, the Entertainment [N] Centre on this coming Thursday.
And then for Friday, it's very important to entertain.
A new chance to enjoy the music of [G] DLO Part 2.
One of the guys is crooked this morning.
And actually, [C] Kelly, you filled in for the last [G] minute, which we're grateful.
Which guy was it?
That's Bev.
[F] Is he OK, though?
He's feeling a little crook, but he's fine.
He'll be OK.
He just [A] needs a bit of rest for tonight.
[G] Well, if he's watching, all the best, Bev.
And thanks for [Ab] you blokes coming in this [D] morning and continued success with the tour, which I know already is going [N] so well.
