[C#m] I've just finished filming a [G#] Eric Clapton acoustic [E] DVD.
So in this DVD you're going to get [G] five [E] Eric Clapton tracks done acoustic [F#m] style.
So most [B] of these tracks are taken [E] from the classic [E] Unplugged, which was so popular [F#m] with
MTV back in [G#m] 1990 [Em]-something or another.
[A] But Tears in Heaven was a huge hit, I [F#] go through that.
Nylon [C] String, [Dm] Fingerpicking, talk about the techniques, how to fingerpick the [A#] way through that song.
[C] Also, Layla, [Dm] the Unplugged version, has a whole different feel [A#] than the original [C] version.
It's much more [Dm] laid back, it's got a swing feel to it.
It [A#] can be a little tricky to really get in the [C] groove, so I talk a little bit about how
to establish [C#m] that swing feel.
There's also some solos [G#] going on, so I teach you the solos note for note as well.
The solos in these songs are quite a bit [E] different than they are on the original versions, [F#m] because
you're playing them now on [B] the acoustic guitar.
You [E] can't quite get away with some of the same techniques [F#m] you can on the electric [Dm] guitar.
[A#] [Dm]
[Am] [Dm]
[C] [A#] [Am]
[Dm] [A#] [C] [Dm]
[E] On some of these tracks, Eric Clapton [A] is using a pick, as he would with an electric [E] guitar.
But on many of them, such as Before You Accused Me, he's simply using his [A] fingers.
Same thing with Tears in Heaven.
He just uses the fingers, so I talk about how to go [E] through that fingerpicking style
to get the bass line as well as the [A#] melody going, [B] so it sounds like one [E] big instrument
[Am] as opposed to just a small part.
You can really have these songs stand out by themselves [F#] on the acoustic guitar.
[A] [F#m]
[A] [A] [E]
[E]
So I think to [F#m] play through the basics on these [C#m] tracks, you don't need to be a very [D] advanced player.
If you want to [A] play all of the [E] solos note for note, that's going to require [A] some more work.
[B] Songs such as Old [F#] Love, for [Dm] example, just have [G] a very few parts.
It's a slow track, not so hard [Am] to grasp hold of the chords, [Dm] but if you're going to want
to do that [G] long solo note for note, that's going to require a little bit more technique.
[Am]
[Dm] [G]
[Am] [D] [G]
[Em] [Am] [Dm]
[G] [D]
[Am] [Dm] [C]
[Em] [Am] [F]
[C] So [G] Clapton has a great combination of [Am] blues influence [Dm] with a little more modern jazzy
influence in his [G] playing.
A song such as Change the World really [C#m] demonstrates that.
You've got a bluesy verse, [G#] you've got a minor 7 [C#m] flat 5 chord in the chorus, some chords
that are more associated with jazz [G#] music, and it's a great blend of [Bm] that.
So it's a really good DVD if you just want to learn some [E] great Eric Clapton tracks.
Play them on the [F#m] acoustic guitar and they stand out just by themselves.
[E] Just pick a guitar and start strumming.
They sound [Gm] great.
