Hey, [C] what's up you guys?
Marty Schwartz here with Marty Music.
We're going to learn this classic acoustic blues number right now.
And also real quick, I appreciate you supporting what I do here, Marty Music.
If you haven't yet, I would really appreciate you subscribing to the channel, clicking the
bell notification, and then also I've got some great resources in the links below for
your guitar _ experience.
All right, here we go.
All right, so I'm just going to use the basic chords first for you, and then we'll do some embellishing.
So we're going to take a C major chord, _ _ _ _ _ _ [E] and then we're going to go to E7. _ _ _ _ _
_ And so that's like an E major chord with the ring finger off.
_ _ _ So that open E rings out.
You also have this third fret B, which we're going to use _
_ _ _ [Abm] [C] as we progress on with the embellishment.
So we have C, _ [G] _ [E] E7, _ _ _ A7, [A] which now I'm taking the middle and ring finger, it's second fret
D, second fret B. _ _ _ _ _
And once again, you have the third fret high E, _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [Em] which we're going to
use to embellish with.
So from the top, [C] C, _ [E]
E7, _ _ [A] A7, A7. _
_ _ _ [E] Now this has a real nice _ sound, these next chords.
D minor, _ [Gm] A7, D minor.
[Dm] _ _ _
[A] _ _ _ [Dm] _ [D] _ _ _
And that's the [B] classic sound of like the D [Dm] harmonic minor.
_ [G] _ [A] _ _ [D] _
_ [Bb] _ _ [A] _ _ [F] _ _ [Db] _
[D] _ _ _ [Gb] _ _ [Dm] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [A] _ [Bb] _ _ [Dm] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [C] So C, [G] _ [Bm] E7, [Em] _ [A] _ A7, _ _ [Dm] D minor, [A] _ A7, [D] D minor.
_ _ [E] _ [F] _ _
_ _ _ _ [D] So, oh, [E] one, [F] two, three, on [D] the D string, [E] oh, [Dm] one, [F] two, three, _ _ into an [Ab] F chord.
But you could go, [E] oh, [A] one, two, [F] _
F, full F if you [D] want.
[E] _ [F] _ _ _
_ _ [D] _ [E] _ _ [F] _ _ _
[Gb] _ [C] _ _ _ _ _ And then it goes to F sharp diminished.
_ And [Gb] there's a lot of different [G] ways to play [F] it.
_ [Gm] _ [C] _ _
[Ab] I like to play it this way because you're [F] hearing that _ _ [Gb] _ _ _ _ note actually move up a half step.
So, [C] _ and also it's not too bad if you take your index finger and you put it there on
the fourth fret of the D string, then you can form what looks like what you think of
as a D chord shape, you know, a shape that you've got some muscle memory probably. _ _ _
[Gb] _ But then you just add [B] your pinky to that fifth [C] fret high E.
So _ [Gb] that's fourth fret, [Cm] fifth fret, [D] [Ebm] fourth fret, [Gb] _ _ fifth [C] fret.
[D] So, [Ebm] _ [G] _ [F] _ _ [C] _
_ _ _ [Gb] like that. _ _
Then I'm going to [C] a C chord _ [Bb] [A] and _ _ _ [C] I'm going C [Bm] chord and then [Bb] two, [A] one, oh, _ [C] A7, [B] _ [A] _ _ [C] just a
single note walk down.
[B] However, [Dm] _ [A] _ _ _
_ [Em] as we go through some of those little embellishments, that's a thing you can do
where you take a C7 [C] this way or this [B] way, [Bb] _ [A] like _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ that.
The easiest way for someone to [C] begin with.
[Gm] _
[A] _ _ _ [C] [G] C, [Gm] _ _ [A] _
A7, _ _ and then D7, not D minor, now [D] regular D7 to _ _ _ [G] G7. _ _ _
_ _ And so the G7 is like a regular G but with the first fret on the high E.
But you can go _ three, _ _ [Gb] _ [G] _ _
[B] [G] two, one on the high E as an embellishment.
So here are the easy chords now, _ _ or the easiest way.
_ [C] C, _ [E] _ E7, [A] _
A7, _ _ _ [Dm] D minor, [A] _ A7, [Dm] D minor.
We're going to walk up to F, _ _ _ _ [C] F sharp [Gm] diminished, [C] C [A] down to _ [D] A7, _ D7, _ _ [G] _ _
G7.
One more time, [C] here we go.
[Em] C, [E] E7, [A] A7, _ _ _ [G] [D] D minor, [A] _ A7, [Dm] D minor, [D] _ [E] _
[D] _ [F] _ _ [C] _ _ _ [C] _ [B] _
[A] _ _ _ _ [D] _ G7. _
_ _ [G] _ _ _ _ _ _
[C] _ _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ [A] _
_ _ _ _ _ [G] _ [Dm] _ _
[A] _ _ _ [Dm] _ _ _ _ [Eb] _
[E] _ [D] _ [F] _ _ [G] _ [Gb] _ _ [C] _
[B] _ [Bb] _ [A] _ _ _ [D] _ _ [Dm] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [G] _ _ _ _ _
_ All right, so check out this first little extra kind of melody added.
[C] _ _ [G] _ [E] _ _
[A] _ _ _ [E] So what you're [C] doing is you're going C, [Em] C, [E] E7, and then emphasizing the high E, _ _ [D] _ _
and then
that third fret [C] Bs.
_ [Em] _ _ _
[A] _ To the A7, then grab that third fret high Es.
_ _ _ _ [D] _ _
[A] D minor, A7, and you can add that as a flavor.
_ [Dm] _ _ _ _ [Eb] _
[E] _ [F] _ _ _ [Gb] _ [Ebm] _ _ [C] _
[Bb] _ [A] _ _ _ _ _ _ [D] _
_ _ _ _ [Am] _ [Gm] _ _ [G] _
_ _ [Em] _ [C] _ _ [Em] _ _ [A] _
_ _ _ _ _ [G] _ [D] _ _
[A] _ _ _ [Dm] _ _ _ [D] _ [E] _
[F] _ _ _ [Gb] _ _ _ [C] _ [B] _
[A] _ _ _ _ [D] _ _ _ _
_ _ [G] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [C] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [E] All right, hope you guys enjoyed the lesson.
Thanks again for hanging out.

You also have this third fret B, which we're going to use _
