We were looking for something to do for the finale and I've been a little out of voice
during this taping, but I was hoping we could find something Keller could sing, but then
he was talking about, well, maybe it would be cool if we could do something that we both
could sing a little something on, just do a [D] verse or something.
[G] I've recently worked up a version [D] of People Get Ready and I haven't played it out too
much, but it's just such a feel-good song and so I thought, well, that could have a
really sweet [N] energy to go out on.
It's got a chorus.
[G] It could be [D] any style of music.
You know, and then he said, oh, Keller, you know, it'd be really cool if you could sing
something but it was a different song over these chord changes.
[G] [D]
I couldn't really, I couldn't think of anything in those progressions, but Lou Gossain, my
sound engineer tour manager, was like, no woman, no cry, and Nick [Bm] heard him and he was like, yes!
[G] [D] It's fun to kind of bend it and make it work [G] and [D] I really [Bm] like Nick's direction [G] and [D] his
[A] enthusiasm and his energy and his vision to not do a cover song the way a cover song's done.
I just have the band drop out and have everybody sing.
And then at the end, the [D] two mashups came [Bm] together and it worked and I thought it was
kind of cool.
[G] [D] You know, it was fun.
It all kind [G] of came together last minute, [D] but they're willing to [Bm] take a chance and try
something different, so I love [G] that.
It's really fun.
[D] [Bm]
[G] [D] [Bm] People get ready, [D] there's a train coming.
You [Bm] don't need no baggage, [G] you just [D] get on board.
[Bm] All you need is [G] faith, [D] you hear the diesels humming.
You [Bm] don't need no ticket, [G] you just [D] thank the Lord.
[G] [D]
[Bm] Said I [G] remember when [D] we used to sit in [B]
the government [G] yard in [D] Trenchtown.
[Bm] All but observed [G] the [D] hypocrites as they [Bm] would mingle with the good people [D] we knew.
[Bm] Good friends we have, or [D] good friends we've lost [Bm]
along [D] the way.
[E] This great [D] future, [G] you [D] can't forget your [Bm] past, so dry your [G] tears I [D] say.
[G] [D] No [Bm]
