This is a song called Schoolin'.
[Gb] It began life [Eb]
as a sort of hip-hop kind of loop that I was playing with, [F] and I really liked the bass line a lot.
So we tried to work a song around it early on in the band and never really got anywhere.
And then a bit later on, I wrote something else.
It was kind of strings and sort of tribalistic drums.
[D] And I [E] realized that this bit could go on the end, although it was a bit slower.
So we wrestled with it for a while.
And then Alex started playing a kind of very minimal sort of math rock style riff over the top, which wasn't something we really thought of.
And [D] that seemed to make the magic moment happen.
And we knew it was going to work and went from there.
Lyrically, it's about mistakes, making mistakes and learning from them or not.
