_ _ _ _ _ I want you to spend a little bit of time today showing you two very simple chords on the
ukulele.
We use these chords in the song Go [G] Tell Aunt Rhody and you can find a
video that goes with that song.
_ I [B] want you to show you these chords [F] really
close up so I'm going to get [A] the ukulele [F] very close to the camera now.
_ _ Okay the first chord we're going to [G] do is the chord of F, F major and it's first
finger and if you're not sure which first finger is, it's the one next to your thumb, this
one here.
It's going to go on the second string behind the first fret like that.
_ [A] Okay so that the E string [C] that is, okay second one [Bb] up from the floor, first
finger goes [A] there and then [C] the second finger is [G] going to go on the fourth
string, the G string behind the second fret.
So the two fingers are _ placed like
that, two different strings, two different frets and notice how the A
string and the C string are both open, the [Am] first and third strings are both
open and that is how you fret the chord F major.
_ [F] _ _ Okay it sounds like this. _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[G] I'm
going to show you another chord now, this is even easier, this is the chord of C7
_ and notice it's got nothing to do with the C string or the seventh fret, it's
purely to do with the structure of the chord, you don't have to worry about that
at the moment.
First finger goes on the A string, [F] one nearest the floor, behind the
first fret and that's all you have to do, very very simple.
Okay one finger
[C] chord sounds like this, _ _ _ _ that is the chord of [G] C7 and notice the thumb sits behind the
back of the neck [F] like that when you play the chords. _
So there's F major _ and _ [A] C7,
notice the first finger just moves from being behind the first fret of the E
string to being behind the [Bb] first fret of the A string.
_ [B] F major [G] C7, F major C7 and
you can practice doing that anytime without disturbing anyone, that's a good
thing to do, just practice changing _ and those are two chords in the key of [E] F, _ _ _ [C] F
major C7 _ and a very [Gm] useful
