[B] [F#] Hi, I'm Lewis from GAK.co.uk and I'm holding here the Fender American Standard Strat.
It's got a maple neck and it's in three-tone sunburst.
So [G] the big thing about this recently is they've started putting custom shop pickups in here.
So they've got fat 50s pickups in here.
They're exactly the same types of pickups as you'd be getting, [D]
which is a really good buy.
Other things, you've got a 9.5 inch radius neck and a modern C profile.
So it's pretty flat, it's pretty thin, but it's not as fat as some of the early no-caster
type guitars and it's not as flat as some of the more shreddy ones that you might find.
Got a 50s style headstock on there, not too large, just a normal one.
And the body is made from alder.

[N] Right, so I'm holding here the American Special Stratocaster.
Now the ethos behind this was that Fender wanted to bring a bit of manufacturing back
to the USA because you basically have the Mexican ranges and then you have the American
ranges and the American ranges are usually over a grand in terms of price.
But [D] they wanted to make a sub-thousand pound guitar in America to bring some manufacturing
back because of the economic.
So they came up with this, the American Special Stratocaster.
Now the differences between this and the American Standard is Texas Special pickups in here.
So they're the same ones that you get in a Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster.
They've got a lot higher output, they're going to drive the amp harder, they've got more
of an aggressive sound as opposed to the Custom Shop fat 50s which were in the American Standard.
Now on this you've got a vintage style bridge here, so it's got the six screws on there
as opposed to the two piece.
70s style headstock on here, so it's a lot fatter.
The neck is pretty much the same as the American Standard, apart from it's got a satin fingerboard
on there, it's made of maple here.
Satin fingerboard so it hasn't got any lacquer on it, so some people might actually prefer
that feel, but it all aids in keeping the cost down of the guitar.
Again a modern C-shaped neck as well, so not too fat, not too thin, somewhere nice in the middle.
And yeah, apart from that this one's in FSR Blonde colour, but they come in a whole range
of different colours and in HSS variations.
