Welcome [Am] to the [E] Fire Away guitar lesson [A] from Chris Stapleton.
The verse and the introduction of the [E] song use the same components, the same parts.
It's an [A] 8 measure phrase in 3-4.
We're going to play [Am] G5.
And it's written in tablature in the comments of the video again.
We have the G5, second finger on the low E string.
Choke [E] out the A string.
[Am] Two middle strings open and the third finger on the third fret on the B string.
[E] Choke out the high E.
D5 does this really cool thing.
We can strum the D, G, and B strings on frets 0, 2, and 3.
And then we also have this part where we're removing the first finger.
[A#] And using that to hammer [F#] on.
Okay, that's a really cool technique.
So it gives us this sound.
[Em]
[A] Okay, really [D] fun stuff.
The next chord is Cadd9.
So we'll start with four middle strings.
A string fret 3.
Choke the D string [A] out.
Open G and fret number 3 on the B.
So we have this really nice C sus 2.
[Am] If we add that second [D] finger on fret 2 on the D string,
[A] it actually gives us the Cadd9 that we're looking for.
So that's a really nice pretty sound.
We don't have any high E string again.
[F#] We're working on the verse section.
It's 8 bars and it starts with 1.
It's a basic strum pattern.
You can use the strum pattern illustrated in the tablature if you want.
But I'm just going to count it in 3 today.
[Am] 1, 2, [E] 3, 1, 2, [F#m] 3, 1, 2, [Am] 3, 1, 2, 3, 1, 3, [E] 1, 2, [A] 3, 1, 2, 3.
And then we hold on to that.
And so that's our 8 measure phrase.
Then the pre-chorus [Bm] is A minor 2 times.
And [F#m] then E minor 2 times.
And then [Bm] A minor.
And [A] then G with B in the bass.
And [E] then D for 2 bars.
And then we get into this huge [B] chorus, which is [F#m] big [E]
[A]
[E]
4-bar [A] section of [E] D5.
[Am] [A]
[E]
And then [A] we go down to the post-chorus, which is C.
And we're kind of working on that C between the C add 9 and the Csus2.
So we've got the 4 strings.
That's pretty much [F#] it.
[G] Thanks for watching another guitar session with [F#] Jason Carey.
