[A] [Bm] [A]
[G] [E] [Dm] Hey everyone, this is Winston coming to you all with a tutorial of Firestone by Kygo.
Not sure if it's Kygo or Kigo, sorry if I mispronounced it, but a super catchy song,
a really addictive beat, and I just want to share this song with all of you today.
Starting right off with the intro.
[F#m] [E]
[F#m]
[A] [E]
[Dm] Alright, so the intro, not too difficult.
Starting with the right hand, A, D.
I'm going to show [Dm] you guys the rhythm of just the right hand first.
[D]
[A] [C] Alright, and now we're going to combine it with left hand, which [F#] starts off with a B
minor 1-5-8-5-8 chord.
Ready, [F#m] and [A]
A, G.
[D]
[A] [E] So the rhythm slash the chord progression for the left hand [B] is going to be 1-5-8-5-8
on the [A] B, 1-5-8-5-8 [G] on the A, 1-5-8-5-8 on the G, and then 1-5-8 on the G [E] again, 1-5
on the A.
And that's going to be the first [D] half.
The second half is going to be [F#m] largely the same except for the end.
[E]
So you're going to jump down to the E instead of repeating the G, and then you're going
to hold the A, D on the right hand.
[F#]
You're going to do that transition, so A, A, F sharp, B, and then you're going to repeat it.
Alright, so this is going to be the verse, not even going to teach it, just going to
guide you through as I play it in real time.
Let's go.
[Bm] Starting off with the B minor, [A] A major, [G] G major, [A] A, [Bm] B, G.
[A] [G] A, G, E minor.
[E] This is E with [Em] a G, B, [Gm]
D.
All [G#] other right hands were performed with two notes.
And that's going to be the verse, and you're going to run through that two times to get
to the transition.
Alright, so the transition is going to be the exact same [F#] chords as the verse, except
just in a different rhythm.
So here we go.
Starting off [G] with a G major.
[A]
[Bm] [D] [G]
[A] [D] [Bm]
So very important to note that the chord progression does change every iteration.
So here we have [G] G, [A] A, [Bm]
B minor, [D] D major, and then the [G] second part is G, [A] A, [D] and then D.
[Bm]
So it goes from G, A, [F#] B, D to G, A, D, B.
And you're going to run through this section
twice before you hit the chorus, [D#] which I know you're all dying to learn.
Alright, so this is going to be the EDM section, probably the tune that all of you guys are
familiar with, the most famous section of the song.
What I'm going to do is play two simple variations of the EDM section, and then you guys can
mix and match and use these variations however which way you want.
Alright, so this is the first one, it's a more ballady version, probably I'd recommend
as the first iteration of the section when you first start playing.
[G] [Em] [A]
[Bm] [D] [G]
[A] [D]
[F#] Alright, and this is going to be the second variation, probably simpler, but you're going
to be arranged.
[G] I'm going to do octaves and chords.
Ready?
[A] [Bm]
[D] [G]
[D]
[F#] Sorry if that was a little bit on the soft side, my roommates are going to go to sleep,
so I just want to tune it down a little if you guys [G#m] want to jack up your volume to hear
it, [F#] that's cool.
Do it.
Alright, so EDM section, what happened?
For the right hand, all I can say is just keep looping the section and learning the
rhythm of the notes.
I end up having to listen to it like six or seven times before I got the tune down, but
once you get the tune down it's like the greatest feeling ever, because it feels like you can't
forget it, you [F] just keep looping it, looping [F#] it.
Once you get more familiar with it, you have more flexibility with your left hand as well.
So I'm not going to teach the right hand, just loop the section and you'll learn it eventually.
The first variation for the left hand I used a 1-5 [F#m]-8 and then 9 [G]-10.
So I just like switch over my thumb to play the 9-10 notes.
So I start off with G major,
[B] [A] A major, B minor, [Bm] D major, [D]
[G] C major, [Em] [A]
and [D] then D major.
[Bm]
See I'm still [F] trying to synchronize the time, I'm still not 100% yet.
But basically G, A, B, D, and then G, A, D, B.
So you just switch around the B and the D.
And then the second variation, you're starting off with an octave, very low octave G, and
then you jump up to this is going to be a B, [G] D, G to start.
And then low [A] A.
So [F#m] here I have A, [A] C sharp, E, [Bm] B.
Here I have B, D, F sharp.
[E] And [D] then D major.
So here I have D, F sharp, A.
So basically mostly the basic chords.
[G]
[A] [D]
D, [Bm] B.
[D] Alright, and so basically after that you learn the EDM section, second verse, chorus, transition,
all that jazz, EDM section again, and it's finished.
It's actually a long song, but the sections themselves are very long and once you learn
small portions of it, you can play the entire song.
So that's Firestone by Kygo.
Subscribe, like, comment, request, and I will see you guys next time.
[N] Peace!
