The one that was tricky was [F] for me.
[Bb] It's really kind of phrased in three, although we're playing four over that.
But Neil started improvising vocals over the top of us trying to groove this thing.
We still hadn't really figured out where we were going with it.
And his phrasing was so right on that that's just like, [G] OK, this is how we're doing it.
There you go.
And so we took it from there.
And then, of course, it took me a while to wrap my mind around that because I desperately wanted to play it in [C] six.
But it was not to be.
But as you can hear on the record, it all worked out for the best.
And now that I hear with the vocals in it, it makes [Bb] great musical sense.
From there, we go into this cool, what I think of as [A] a heavy sort of Zeppelin riff.
We set up this big section and then Mike [G] comes in and sings a cool different [C] kind of verse.
[Bb] And this goes back to something I said in one of the other videos, too.
I just [N] love it because the whole texture of the song has now changed.
Now, I guess that's a characteristic of a prog tune.
[F] But [Cm] I love that.
We've taken a musical [C] left turn and we've gotten to this whole other place.
And now Mike's going to sing lead on that.
And it really adds for an interesting twist.
And I've got to say, too, actually, throughout this whole tune, Mike's playing, his drumming is incredible as well.
And Neil's [Bbm] vocal tour de force through this tune.
So it's nice to hear him [G] featured so much in this song.
[Fm] [C] Everybody does a great job.
And Neil really sounds great on this.
So then we go through and we have our usual [Cm] guitar solo extravaganza.
And I [Bb] think we work our way from there back to the hook.
[F] And then back to the [Bb] Zeppelin thing.
And we end with this real heavy section to take us out.
The guitar and organ start playing [C] together.
It's just really big and rocking and fat at the end.
So what's not to like?
You've got a little bit of everything.
[G] So I think this [Bb] one will be a lot of fun to play live.
And I'm really looking forward to it.
So [G] that about wraps up my thoughts for [C] A Place in Your World.
Check it out.
Thanks.
Next song, A Place in Your World.
[G] [C]
[G] So watching [Em] Steve and Dave and Neil work on these melodies, da-da-da-da [A]-da-da,
is so much fun [Eb] because they hear [Bb] part of what makes their [D] brilliance is that
they can hear these very unique melodies.
And then when one of them plays and the other two catches on like that.
And I usually sit there and I'm writing something out.
Or sometimes I even just let my instrument go because I can't keep up.
But then I come in [A] here.
I love this melody.
[G]
[C]
[E] You know, and in this [A] song too you can hear a lot of Neil's brilliance of his harmonies.
It's crazy because we'll take a song and he'll come back with this very elaborate
orchestration of harmonies [Gb] that's never an overkill.
But it's just like he was in The Beach Boys [G] in another life.
[Gbm] Okay.
Let me see if there's anything else.
A Place in Your [Bb] World.
[D] [F]
[Eb] [Gb] Again, this song kind of fuses the where is my place?
[G] Who am [C] I?
What am I doing here?
And kind of creating that [Gb] question [A] and going through that.
[G] [N]
