Hi everybody, I'm Clint and we're going to be looking at a little solo for the Bluegrass
Fiddle Tune, Red Haired Boy today.
We're going to be capo 2 and playing out of [D] G position,
so it's in the [A] key of A.
I'm going to [N] play it through once for you and then we're going
to break it down and teach [A] you each part.
[G]
[A]
[D] [F#m]
[D] [A]
[B] [A] [F#m]
[E] [A]
[Em] [A]
Alright so, [G]
we're going to break this down phrase by phrase here.
First [E] phrase is going
to start on your open 5th string, open D string, up to the open [A] G string and then we're
going to fret the G string on the 2nd fret with our [E] middle finger [A] and then play it open
again.
[B]
Very first phrase there.
And then the next phrase starts with [C#] an open B and then
1-3 on the B string, [F#m]
[F#] open E, back to the 3rd fret on [E] the B and then [C#] open again to the 1st
fret.
[D] So [D] that sounds like, [F#]
so [B] all that together.
[F#m] [D] Then we're going to play it open again and
do [A#m] the same 1-3, [E] open [A] G and then back to the [B] 1.
[G] So that's [C#] 1-open, [B] 2-open, [G] 2 hits on the
3rd fret on the 4th string.
[D] And then we're going to repeat that phrase [F#] again.
[A]
[F#m] [D] So the
same 2 phrases from the first part of the A [D#] part.
And then the last phrase [C#m] sounds like,
[Em]
same 1-open, 1-3 on the B string we've been doing.
[E] And then you're [A] going to use your pinky
here to get the 3rd fret on [A#m] the E string.
[F#m]
[A] And then we're going to do open, [B] open E string
[E]
to the 3rd fret on the B [D] string.
[F#m]
[A] So that sounds like, [E] [C#m]
one more [F#m] time.
[A] So the whole A part sounds
[E] like,
[A] [G] [F#]
[D] [F#m]
[B] [A] alright so the B part is [E] going to start on the 3rd fret of the B string here.
We're
going to go open, open 1 on the E string, back down.
Then you're going to use your pinky
for that 3rd fret on the E string again.
[Bm] So all that again.
[E]
[D]
[C#] And then the same, same open
1-3 on the B string we were doing [E] to the [A] open G.
Same thing we did on the A [B] part.
[G] And then
the end of the B part is just repeating the last phrase of the, or the last half of [E] the
A part.
[Am]
[D] [A]
[Em] [A] So the whole B part sounds [E] like, [D] [A]
[G] [F#] [A]
[E]
[A] and there you have it, you just play the A part
twice and the B part twice and that is all of Red Haired Boy.
