Frenchie's Reel is a great Canadian reel that's written by Ward Allen and a gentleman by the
name of Mel Levine, I believe.
So it starts with a down bow, two and low one on the D.
[Bb] And then we go.
[C] [Bm] So it's an [N] open on D, then a low two, and one, two, three on A.
Keep in mind that one is [C] low.
And then we're going to do that exact same lick again, starting with an up bow though,
the [Eb] slur.
We're going to slur the first two notes.
[Bb] [D]
[Ab] Okay, so let's put those together.
[Bb]
[Eb] [Bb]
Now right after that, we're just [Bb] going to continue on and do an up bow slur with one,
two, one.
Time for the advanced tutorial for Frenchie's Reel, one of my favourite tunes in B flat.
Great key.
And there's a lot that we can do with this one.
So we'll start by, I'll just play it [C] a little bit and then see what happens.
[F]
All right, so a few [N] things right in there.
I do a couple of triplets.
And I do actually a slide right in leading into that first note, [F] just [C] sliding into that F.
[Bb] And you can do a three, two, one here [Gb] and slur the next two notes with it [C] even.
[Bb]
[Fm] Try that.
[C]
[Bb]
And [F] then, so you can go two, [Bb]
[Fm]
[Bb] [Fm] open, one, two.
[F] And of course, [Db] letting all those notes [Gm] blend together.
It sounds a lot [Gb] fuller that way.
So we'll take it from the start again.
