[G#] [Am] Hey guys, what's happening?
Mike Gross [F#] here at rockandguitarlessons.com and youtube.com slash rockandguitarlessons1.
This is Funkadelic with One Nation under a Groove.
Love the funk, man.
So, uh, anyway, standard tuning on this.
A lot of funk playing is about feel and placement, not so much the notes being up and down the neck.
A different world than guitar.
It's [G] about a feel that's created.
[D] So, standard tuning on this.
[F] First finger 5A, hammer to 7, [E] hammer on.
[G]
And then, I'm upstroking on the 5th fret D.
You can do it down, that's fine as well.
[E] So, if you do that, [G] do like a quarter step bend, [C] very slight.
[Em]
[G] Then you'll go back to 7th fret on the A, pick that, [F#] and then go to 5A, and then back
to 7A, and then slide it.
[E] So it's
Not
Not like that, [Am] but
[Em]
[F#] Do the slide, get it right around the 4th fret, and just stop it with your right [Em] hand.
[Bm] [Am] And then, on this [Bm] part, it's a B [B] minor to an A minor.
It's barring the [C] 7th fret on the G, B, and the E.
[Bm]
Go down, up, down on that.
[Am] Then so [Bm] watch, you'll go
Then take your fretting hand, lift the pressure off a little bit.
I like to set my other fingers down.
So [G] [E] you want that [G] sound, not a
[Am] You can do the mute if you [G] want, right when you're above where you're heading next, which
happens to be the 5th fret barred on the G, B, and E.
So [Am] you would down mute, upstroke on the A minor.
[Bm] [Am] [G]
[Am] [G]
[Bm] So [N] it's a lot about the feel that's set up.
You got almost picture just a simple, what I would say, a Michael Jackson beat.
You want to try and keep that beat.
If you have a drum machine, that's really a cool route to go, or a drummer.
But a drum machine's always on time, doesn't talk back, plays whatever tempo you want him to.
I'm messing.
Alright guys, so Funkadelic.
If you haven't heard them, go check them out.
I'm a big fan of funk.
I like it all.
[Am] Funk and [Bm] metal are my two faves.
But I love it all.
I love blues and everything.
So, [N] my name's Mike Gross.
