[Am] Bring him on!
Where is he?
Come on [Em] baby!
Derek has been held [D] in a soundproof [Em] booth off stage.
Woohoo!
[Am] Unlucky!
Hi!
[Em] Kidnapped!
I'm [G] Derek.
Kidnapped!
[C] So [Am] we get it.
Hi Derek.
Hi Derek, I'm Steve.
Hi there.
This is so cool.
You are [Em] my most favorite band in the [G] world.
And I [Am] love you all so much.
This is so neat to be here.
You have a [Em] great accent.
Sit down.
That's your seat.
That's [Am] your seat.
My seat, okay.
You're a brave man to do this.
[Em] There you go.
[G] I don't know if you remember [C] me, I made a poster for you.
[Am] I remember the poster.
Yeah, yeah.
Because I talked to you, yeah.
We quite like that poster.
It's [Em] really well done.
We dropped it off actually just last week in [Am] Madison in the studio.
So it's going to be up there for everyone [Em] to see.
I felt kind of dumb, you know, hanging [C] outside with this big poster behind me.
Everyone thought I was, you know, an [Em] obsessed fan and all.
I was like, I am, so what?
[Am] Well, I'm going to [G] ask you all some [Gb] questions that I've saved up for a long [Abm] time.
[Eb] Are they clean?
Yeah.
[Gb] You may proceed.
Thank you.
[B] I think your music, the lyrics [Gb] convey a great, you know, [Abm] they're meaningful.
They mean a lot to [Gb] people.
Do these come from, you know, [Abm] personal experiences, lessons [N] that you've learned, the song lyrics?
Yeah, I mean a lot of the time we try and keep the words as [A] sort of ambiguous as possible
[Em] so that it's not too [Gb] specific.
It's not about anything.
It's to be a joy.
[G] So that the listener can [A] interpret them the way they [Ab] want to.
It's [Gb] not about the other man.
[Gbm] I tend to [Em]
mix and match [Gb] experiences and wind them up in the one song.
It's not necessarily about one [B] specific incident.
It's just [Gb] an overall view.
Stupid girl.
Stupid girl.
[B] I feel like I can [Gb] greatly identify with your lyrics.
When I hear them, they motivate me.
When I [E] was younger, probably about four or five years ago, I was really down about myself, down about my [Gbm] life.
I [Abm] hated everything.
I didn't like anything.
[N] I didn't enjoy anything.
I'm only happy [Abm] when it rains.
[Gb] I think that your music kind of gave me [E] the guide to start [Db] living again.
I mean, it sort of taught me to cope [E] with things, accept myself, [Ab] you know, love myself for who I am.
See, I'll start throwing myself on this [E] table and start to weep.
[Db]
[Ab] [A]
[B] I [Db] mean, I think we all feel like that.
[Abm] All the people, the bands that we fell in love with did the [A] same for us.
I think that's the great [B] thing about music.
Very well [Gb] put.
Thank you very much.
It helped me a lot.
[D] It was really nice to hear.
[E] Whose idea was it [A] to name the second CD version 2.0?
[D] We got a big board up in the [A] studio and we used to mark down everybody's [D] ideas.
And then eventually, Billy Bush, [A] our engineer, in a moment of [D] desperation, shoved up the word [A] version 2.0
because he was aware of [D] how much we relied on computers and the [A] recording process, etc.,
etc.
And everyone [D] put ticks beside it.
So it got four [A] ticks, so it got used.
Do you think that [D] your third one will be called version 3.0 or will it be a totally [Am] different type of name?
You'll have to ask Billy.
[D]
[Gm] When not performing in [Eb] concert or recording your music, what do you [Gm] all do for fun?
What do you like to do?
For me, for fun, I sleep.
That's so [Eb] sad.
I know.
I need to get a life.
But I don't know.
We're all big movie fans.
We go to movies a lot, read [G] books.
[Gm] But we're not sporty, [Eb] athletic, successful types.
[Gm] We don't go out there and whip people's [Dm] asses on the football [G] team.
[Bbm] Poker.
[Gb] [Bbm]
[D] We [Bbm] play poker [F] on the bus.
That's our new [Bbm] passion, poker, on the long bus trips.
Have you had any weird, odd jobs in [Gb] the past that led up to this?
Oh, yeah.
[Bb] [Bbm] Short order [F] fry cook.
I worked in a mental institution for [Bbm] a while as a warderly, and I drove taxi for a while.
[Gb] But they were all character builders.
[Bb] How [Bbm] about you, Steve?
What have you done in the past?
Mostly, [F] I'm going [Gm] over and over.
[Bbm] I've done that.
That's no fun.
Well, Push [Em] It was an excellent video.
I mean, it got eight nominations.
It was great.
I was really proud of you all for [A] getting [Bm] all of that.
Yeah, well, we were [A] really happy about that, and we really [B] were glad for the director,
Andrea Giacobi, [C] because he really [G] deserved a lot of work into it.
It really is a brilliant [E] video.
[C]
[A] [D] While you all are touring [Em] with three guys and one girl, does the scene ever turn dramatic?
Do you [Am] ever fight?
Any crazy [G] things happen?
[D] There's a few gender [C] issues, but they're very slight.
There is the toilet [Am] problem, [C] which is they won't let me look at their wheelies [A] when they're peeing.
[Em] That's not allowed.
[D] That's fair enough, don't you [F] think?
So I feel very let down.
And do you let them see you?
[C] I don't think [A] they'd want to see me, but I [C] wouldn't really mind,
because you can't see anything of ladies' [F]
nether regions when [C] they're pouting down.
But you can look if you want.
Oh, thanks.
[Em] With fans and groupies, what is [Gb] your least favorite [Bm] thing about fans and [Em] groupies?
Or what do you like about them and what do you dislike?
I [Gb] hate it when groupies only want to sleep with them and they don't want to sleep with me.
[Am] [Em] There's nothing about our fans that we [Am] find problematic, really.
They're all very cool, [Em] really respectful.
[G]
Forty years from now, what characteristics and details do you want Garbage to be [Dm] remembered for?
[G] I don't know.
I don't think in terms of being [F] remembered, in [G] a [Fm] historical sense,
[C] I think that's [G] very much a male [F] obsession about, [G] what's my mark in history?
I don't give a damn.
[Dm] [G] What is the most memorable moment you've had with Garbage?
For me, this is for the moment.
[F] [Eb] If [C] everyone forgets about me [Gm] tomorrow, I don't think I'll really [F] be that [Eb]
worried about [E] it.
Well, I will [Bb] never forget about you.
[F] I will remember you forty years from now and [Bb] longer.
What is [D] the most memorable thing you've done with Garbage?
This has been [G] a great opportunity to get to interview you.
I can't emphasize how much I love your music.
It's opened me up to music.
I didn't used to care about music at all until I started [Ab] hearing you.
Now, that's all I can think about is music.
Great.
That's great.
[C] If you flew all [Cm] the way here to interview us, you've got to hang at the show.
We're not going [Ab] to put you on a [Fm] plane and send you back.
You've got to come [Bb] out and see some rock [Cm] tennis.
That would be awesome.
All right, Dad.
I will see you tonight.
Thank you.
[N] Your music has touched me in some way.
Hello.
Nice to meet you.
Oh, my God.
You're so cool.
Great.
I love him.
I met Maxwell.
Hey, you.
He was great.
He held his side of the bargain.
We, on the other hand, sucked.
Dreams come true.
You get what you pray for.
I feel the same way about all the people that I fell in love with.
I think to a certain degree that's what Suzy and the Banshees did for me
at a time when I was 14 years old and I felt like I was going to die.

and feel really empowered, so I can understand that.
Then, because I'd found music that I was madly in love with,
I felt I had a secret, so that when I went to school
and all my peers kind of made me feel uncomfortable,
I felt that I had a secret that made me just as cool as they were.
They just didn't know how cool I was.
You made an impression on them.
I hope so.
Made one on [F] me.
Thanks to Garbage, we got [B] free tickets [Em] tonight to see them again.
Thank you, MC.
Thanks, Garbage.
