[Eb] Yeah, that's gonna be fun to teach, huh?
Well, welcome to this one-on-one DVD where I'm going to teach you how to play the tune Georgia on my mind.
I'm going to start right out.
The first two notes are an A and a C, starting here, and I'll just work my way through it.
So here we [D] go.
[Cm]
[A] [G]
[D] [G]
[A]
[C] [E] [Bb]
Don't forget there's a B flat there, right?
We have one flat, it's in the key of F, is what I'm teaching this to you in.
So there's one flat there, that B flat.
[D] [G]
[C] [F] So, F major, these three notes.
We have an F, an A, and a C.
It goes with these melody notes.
I don't [A] want you playing the melody now, I'm just going to do this so you can kind of, it'll help us keep track of where we are in the tune.
Now the second chord in the next measure, that's an A chord, A major.
Okay, that chord is A, C sharp, and E.
[B]
In this chapter, I want to put together the two separate hands, or the two separate parts that we've been learning in the previous two chapters.
So, [F] we had a basic melody in our right hand, basic chords in our left, now we're going to put them together.
And I'm going to give you a couple simple rules to follow when you do this.
And we're going to slowly work our way through this tune.
Let's go ahead and just dig right in.
So here we go.
First melody note is those two notes.
And we're going to start with an F chord.
Move that out, here we go.
So here we go.
And now we're going to move on to an A chord.
[A] I'm going to do this really slowly, so if you're following along and watching my hands, there won't be any mysteries.
I'm going to keep trying to tuck my fingers out of the way so you can see it.
Now we're moving to the third [Dm] measure, D minor.
Now, something I want to say right there, you notice that D minor, it's over that rest in the measure.
So that means you should go ahead and play it at the beginning of the measure.
And then play the notes, the melody notes that follow.
[Gm] Next measure, G minor to the G [G] diminished.
[Gm] Here's [F] an F,
[E] E7.
[Eb]
Hey, this ought to be a fun chapter.
I'm going to give you some intros and some endings.
Which just means it's some ways to get into or out of the tune, as logical as that sounds.
You know, [F] [Bb] now [F] [Dm]
[Gm] [C]
[F] here's those two other [Gm] chords, G [C] minor, C7, and start in the tune.
[F]
[A]
[Eb] You know, and on and on.
[Abm]
Alright, well here we are, kind of the last chapter, if you will, of this video.
And, you know, it's been kind of a long road.
And for some of you, you might have gotten through this fairly quickly.
But probably for the majority of you, it's been, you know, a few weeks, if not months, to get to a point where you're really ready to get through the whole thing.
And, you know, what I hope, and I said this at the very beginning, and I'll kind of, you know, redo it, or re-say it now.
Is that this is really exposing you to all this great, really real world, where the rubber hits the road information.
That you can slowly absorb and get into your own playing at your own time.
And, you know, you can really use it to play a tune.
This is such a great tune, Georgia.
It's just a classic piano tune.
And I hope I've given you enough nuggets and enough insight into it.
That you can really work on this becoming just another one of these tunes that you can play for the rest of your life.
