[Dm] Hello, this is Gerd [G] Jansson.
I'm at Amoeba Records.
What's in my bag?
The first one, I don't know if I'm actually allowed to say who's behind this.
Does anyone know?
Is this [A] Anonymous?
Kind of [C] Anonymous?
Okay, it's Anonymous, but [F] it's really good.
And the track I like the [D] most is not Woman, that is on the B side, but Ja Ja on the A side.
[A] [Dm]
And it's very typical for that Anonymous [G] producer.
[D] Disco-ish, drummy, great bass line, puts people in a state of joy and despair at the same time.
It has [C] samples on it, and the good thing [G] is, I have no clue what he or she sampled for this record.
That's maybe why I like it so much.
He or she [E] is a great guy.
[G] Okay, the next one is a record from the UK.
[C] It's by Japan and called [Abm] Visions of China.
Humbling heroes, [Eb] the [Gb] game [Abm] I never [Dbm] thought of.
[Eb] 1981.
I [Abm] really like Visions of China.
[F] It was kind of a, was it prog rock or new wave already?
I don't know, they were kind of treated [Gb] as wannabe intellectuals at the time, I [G] think.
The next one is [Abm] a record by the very famous group Department of Sunshine.
[Am] No one actually knows anything about them, and this is the only record I've ever came across.
[C] [D]
[A] [E] It [Am] has space tropics wrapped on [E]
the V side, and it's that kind of weird dance, not dance
[E] stuff, with a punk or new wave edge, which is [D] highly recommended.
[Ab] Now for [N] something that's a bit more funny.
It's Limb by Limb by Cutty Ranks.
There's actually the hip hop, raga mix on the B side, and the typical super heavy bass
line, soca, whatever dance hall group on the A side.
[Ab]
I could never decide for myself who I like the most, Chaba Ranks, Cutty [Bb] Ranks, or Supercat,
but I guess they're all pretty good DJs.
The next one [N] is called Drums of the Caribbean, a study in high fidelity sound.
I've never seen this before.
It sounds super interesting, and it's a 10 inch, [C] and has a great cover.
I'm not sure if you could [Dbm] really play this in a contemporary [Eb] nightclub, but you could try.
I like drums and sound effects, [E] and if you put drums and sound effects together, you
have a great song.
[F] I found this [E] Instant House Lost Horizons record.
It's [D] actually a test pressing, although it has a full cover.
[G] It's on a [E] label called Jungle Sounds, [Ab] and it's very [D] typical of early 90s.
Lots of drums, jungle stuff, eerie [Bb] keyboard melodies.
The next one is a sell [Em]-soul record.
It's by Jimmy Briscoe and the Beavers.
[Am]
[A] It's from [Am]
1979, and it's called [Gb] Into the Milky Way, a mix by Bobby [Am] DJ Gutardaro.
[Ab] It has [E] a really nice kind [F] of spaceship, out of space intro, [N] long percussion parts.
A disco space record, not a space disco record.
And the last one, that's in my bag, is [G] by The Quick, called One Night in a Blackout.
[Fm]
[Bb] [G]
It's a [Gm] promo, and I think you can only find [Fm] the long mix on the promo [Bb] release of that.
It says mid-tempo [Fm] disco, but I would say it's a proper slow [Gm] jam, because it's even below 100 BPM.
[Bb] I owe this one to my friend Lex [Db] from Zurich.
We DJed together at this very nice [G] club called Zukunft, which means future, and it was [Eb] the
last track of the night.
[Ab] Yeah, and it's perfect for that.
Go and look for [F] it.
I'm flattered that I got asked to do this.
Thanks for having me.
