Alright guys, how you doing?
It's Rabir.
Hope you're all good.
[E] So I've been getting a load of [B] questions recently regarding endorsements
[C#m] How do [F] I get endorsed?
What do I need to do to get [G#] endorsed?
Can [E] you help me work out [C#m] a CV, you know, endorsement CV all this kind of stuff.
How did you get endorsed?
[B]
I think there's a lot of mystery and misconception around [C#m] endorsements, what it means and what it represents
[E] And what it does for you as an individual.
For [B] all those that are wanting to do [C#] music full-time
Or take it seriously or you're in [D#] bands or you want to be session guitarist or you want [B] to make it your career
[G#] then of course endorsements [C#m] is a
[G#] Sort of heading that floats [E] around in that subject [F#] when you're endorsed by a company.
[A] I [C#] suppose the most basic of
[G#m]
Endorsements would be like [E] support.
So the company would support [G#] you in what you do
[A] So that's things like if I'm on tour in the [B] US for example
And I need to get my [C#m] amplifiers out there then Victory [G#] have you know distribution set up out there
That may [E] hold [F#] stock so they can arrange for a loan [C#m] stock to be given to me during [C#] that tour
That I then return at [F#m] the end.
So [B] that's like really good [G#] and it's but it's a very [G#m] basic
Sort of attribute of [C#] an endorsement
It's [E] really important to recognize that [G#] endorsements are a two-way [G] thing and that's where people seem to [C#] go wrong
People go [E] when I get endorsed I'll get some free [B] gear, you know, I'll get free [G#] guitar free amplifier all this kind of stuff
Really?
That's not the case.
You [B] shouldn't be trying to get an endorsement to get free gear
You should [C#] be getting an endorsement because you're [C#m] proud of using that gear
You already [D#] own that gear [B] because you bought it already and it's something you [C#m] want you feel proud to represent
Okay, so there's [A#] another misconception
You [C#] think that if you're really [G#] good at guitar or any instrument that that's all you need, but it's [B] not the truth
In fact, it doesn't matter how good you are to get endorsed
[G#] It's about your profile and size as [G#m] an artist when you want to endorse a brand [E] or they want to endorse you
It [C#] is purely down to
What [C#m] what will they benefit [G#] from you being on their artist [E] roster if you're a really famous guitar player [C#m] and you're seen using their gear
Then of course their [E] fans are gonna go.
Oh, they use that gear.
So I'm gonna go and buy [G#] one of those
That's the whole point [C#m] of a brand endorsing an [E] artist.
It's because they want to sell more gear.
They want to survive
[B] They want to put food on the table to their families.
So it requires [C#] you to represent that brand
[E] In a way that looks good and sounds [G#] good.
Therefore, you [C#m] know, it's converted to sales
[C#] That is [B] why people get [G#] endorsed for the most part at least from a brand's perspective
However from an artist [F#] perspective, it's about the pride
[Em] It's because you want to use that [G#] gear
now where people go wrong is when they only [G#m] want to use a piece of gear because it looks like the [E] brands got loads of
Money and [B] they'll get paid to use [G#] the gear and that's just as far as I'm concerned
It's totally not why you should get endorsed [E] or want to endorse a brand going back to basics
[G#] Getting endorsed doesn't mean you get free [A#] gear
Getting endorsed means you're proud to use that [B] gear and you may already have it
[G#] Most brands will endorse you because you go.
Hey, I really love your gear
I've [G] got this that and the other from you guys and I'm a huge fan and I really feel like I want to create a
[G#] relationship with you guys
To help spread the love for your brand
That's essentially [G] what I would go in to say to a brand if I wanted endorsement, [E] you know as far as you [C#m] know
Doing things for them.
They'll want you to promote stuff on the social media.
They'll want to use their gear in your music videos
They'll want you to use their gear [G#m] on big gigs and live gigs [F#] and just generally in [G#] photo shoots and all that kind of stuff
[G#m] Provided you want to some relationships work whereby the [C#m] company will go.
Oh
Well, you know you can use it if you want you [G] don't have to but you know if you want to that's [F#] great
Which is cool because it's flexible, but then other companies go
[C#m] Well, you have to use this gear as part of your [E] artist agreement
You [G] have to use this gear on video shoots stage wherever you go
You [C#m] have to use it [G#m] if you're happy with that great
[B] If you're not then don't endorse them despite [E] maybe wanting to use that gear, you know, it's a huge subject
But [G#] I just wanted to clear up those those little [D#] bits of information where people [C#m] say to me
How do I get endorsed you're in a band [B] or you're an artist that's reputable that [C#m] you've been around a bit and you've got some
[G#] Followers and some influence [E] you're happy to represent that brand [G#] because you like the gear
It's got [C#m] nothing to do with how good you are.
[C#] It's all to do with
Who am I?
[F#] What do I represent?
[C#m] Can I represent this [G#m] gear within what I represent as an artist?
[E] Will that translate to sales and that is [C#m] pretty much the top and bottom of it
[E] It might seem like the dream is kind of [G#] lost a bit there like, you know
Sometimes you might not even be looking for endorsements, but you get signed and you get you know, some some
Fame I guess and [F#m] then a brand approaches you and goes we want to give you a guitar or an amp
Well, that's cool because that's kind [G] of how I imagined [C#] it would be as a kid
But as [A] I've grown up and now work within an industry [D#] where you know gear and you know company
I work with gear companies as well as being [C#m] an artist in a band.
I suppose I'm seeing it from both sides
[F#] So, you know if a [G#] guitar is looking to endorse Chapman guitars
They have to be [C#] a good guitar player at least or at least have a [C#m] band that's really cool or music that's out there
That's really cool.
They have to have followers
And they have to want to use the gear so they have to you know
Use the guitars already or they know of the guitars or a [G#] fan of the guitars and they want to join the family
It's a family [D#] thing if that's what if that's the way you [C#m] want to look at it, but in a nutshell that's endorsements
you have to be able to offer a lot probably more [C#] than they can offer you and
If we proud to use that gear and you have to be
Not in it just for the gear and just for the money [A] because it's not what it's about
[A#] And that's [D#] basically my [G#] opinion on endorsement
So hopefully it cleared up some questions if it hasn't [A] please put them in the comment section below and I'll do [C#] my best to answer
Them but I just thought it was [G] probably worth making [C#] a video about it to answer the questions of those who have been asking [C#m] me
So there [B] you go
Please like [G#] subscribe and share this video if you've enjoyed it and thank you all so much for watching and I'll see you all
