Gimme Shelter Guitar Intro - standard tuning - correct way chords

I'm just going to show you, I think, an easy way to play Gimme Shelter by the Rolling Stones
in open tuning.
On the recording it's done in open E, but if you don't [F] have the time to change tuning
if you're doing a song on a gig or something, here's an easy way to play it in open tuning
because you have [C#] the same effect using the partial barre chord down here.
This is a C sharp [B] chord, [A] or A chord, the main chord [B] of the song.
[C#] What it is is a [G#] bunch of suspensions of the two and the four, so something like this.
[C#] [B] [F#m] [B]
[E] [A] [A] [B] [E]
[B] [C#] [F#] [E] [F#m]
[B] [A] [A] [B] [E]
[B] [F#m]
[B] [A] [B] [Em]
[C#] What I'm doing is just taking the barre here, it's basically a C sharp chord but without
the root note, I'm just using the fifth, the root, the octave and the third, [G#] and then
[F#] [D#m]
I'm
just moving the sus elements of the chord to [B] get that.
[F#]
[C#] [F#m]
[B] [A] [B] [A] So that's here, but when you get down to the A it's actually [N] not a sus anymore, it's just
going back and forth between A and B, and because he's doing it in open tuning he just
moved the barre chord, so I'm just [A] moving the [B] same.
And then it's a sus B, [E] [B] an approximation of that form.
[C#] [D] And then when he has that second [G#] part where he goes up and adds the fifth, you can get
it there with your pinky.
[B]
[F#m] [B] [A] [B]
[A] [B]
[A] [E] [A]
[E] [A] [B]
[C#] [F#m] [E]
[B] [A] [B] [A]
[B] [C#] [B]
So you can check the recording for the precise rhythms and to really lock it [C#] in, but that's
an easy way using the fact that you've got a chord, basically an open chord style on
[B] these [B] types [C#] of chords here, using the same [G] fingering that [C#] he's using here.
I [B] hope this is [C#] helpful.
Thanks very much.
Bye.
