[Em] Listen close, because the next [Bm] five minutes I'm going to teach you everything you need
to know [C] to play Girls Like You on [Gb] guitar.
[E] Are you ready?
[N] [D]
Alright, so first let's take a look at the chords used in this song.
And remember, you can grab [G] the bonus package for this video right here.
The chords we're going to use for this song are going to [C] be C, [G] G, A [Am] minor, [F] and F.
[D] And we're going to use these same four chords in this order for the entire song.
If you don't already know all these chords, click here to learn them.
And if [Gb] you already know them, let's move on to the guitar parts.
[C] [G] [F] [C]
[G] [A] [C] [G] [F] [E]

[A] So [Bm] I've got something new and pretty cool for you guys to play along at the end of [D] this video.
But first, here's three quick tips to make you sound better to other [Bm] people and make
this song more fun to [A] play.
Okay, so [G] tip number one is going to be palm muting in the verse and the pre-chorus.
So you can look back if you need to, but in the first two notes of that [Bm] strumming pattern,
I'm [A] palm muting.
So I'm taking the [D] side of my palm and [G] putting it right over the bridge [Am] so that it sort of
blocks the strings, but not [C] completely.
[Ab] And then after those first [Bb] two strums, I'm opening it [C] back up again.
[G]
[E] Just kind of gives more of a rhythmic feel to [G] the song than it [D] had before.
Technique number two comes in the bridge.
So what we're doing here is just holding out the chords and then on the fourth [F] bar, so
when you're playing that F, on beats two, three, and four, [N] I'm doing some body percussion.
So I'm just taking my palm and I'm hitting it right here, just above your strings, near
the sixth string, and I'm hitting [Db] that on beats two, three, [A] and four.
[F] So that fourth bar is going to sound like this.
One, two, three, four.
[N] It doesn't take too much to do and it's not too precise.
You just got to hit it so that you get a decent sounding smack.
Not too hard, not too soft, but just buttery [D] smooth.
[G] Okay, so technique number three comes in [Am] at the rap.
So what we're going to do [A] here is an all [G] palm muted rhythm to kind of give it a more percussive
rhythmic feel [D] that you usually find in a rap because [E] usually guitars aren't too heavy in rap parts.
So what we're going to do is grab our chords [N] and just palm mute the whole thing, same thing as before.
Side of the palm, just over the [C] bridge there so that you kind of mute it, but you can still hear it.
And then we're just going to follow the same rhythm.
[G] [Em] [F]
[A] [Em]
[E]
[D] [E] Ha, made it with [A] tons of time to spare.
[G]
So here's one thing I've always kind of hated, [D] is when you hear a new song and [A] you're super
pumped to play it, but then you quickly realize it's [E] way too high for you to stick.
[D] [E] Fear not, [Gbm] I'm here to save the day because in the play [D] along that's coming up now, [Bm] I've
dropped it down four semitones.
If you [Dm] don't know what that means, it [A] doesn't matter.
Just know that it's going to be a [G] lot easier for guys to sing.
So guys, you're definitely going to want to follow along [D] with this.
And girls, [G] you might find this easier to sing too.
I've tried to make it [A] in a good range for male and [D] female, but if not, you [G] can just
use the chords that I showed you earlier.
But follow along with this.
There's a capo on the first fret and the [Em] chords are slightly different, but all [D] the strumming
patterns are the exact [A] same and all the techniques are the exact same as what we [D] just learned.
So everything you've done so far isn't going to go to waste.
Let's get into it.

But first, here's three quick tips to make you sound better to other [Bm] people and make
this song more fun to [A] play. _
_ Okay, so [G] tip number one is going to be palm muting in the verse and the pre-chorus.
So you can look back if you need to, but in the first two notes of that [Bm] strumming pattern,
I'm [A] palm muting.
So I'm taking the [D] side of my palm and [G] putting it right over the bridge [Am] so that it sort of

[G] _ _ _ [Em] _ _ _ _ [F] _
_ _ [A] _ [Em] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [E] _ _
[D] _ [E] Ha, made it with [A] tons of time to spare.
[G] _ _
So here's one thing I've always kind of hated, [D] is when you hear a new song and [A] you're super
pumped to play it, but then you quickly realize it's [E] way too high for you to stick.
[D] _ [E] Fear not, [Gbm] I'm here to save the day because in the play [D] along that's coming up now, [Bm] I've
dropped it down four semitones.
