[B] [A] My [Am]
[A]
name is Christopher Owen and I am the songwriter in the band Girls.
[E] And this is what's in my bag.
[G] [E] So I got George Jones, [B] Best Dub, because I [Am] really like his songs.
[Db] [D] Merle Haggard, because I've always [Dm] wanted to get into him.
[G] This one had a lot of sentimental titles.
Is there one that [D] really got your eye?
Let's see.
Let's [A] see.
Sentimental title.
My Woman [Db] Keeps Loving Her [D] Man.
Pretty good.
[F] Hi, my name is JR.
I'm in the band Girls.
I play [Eb] bass and also recorded the record, our new record [G] album.
[E] Basically today I came into [A] Amoeba and I got the Smith Westerns' new self-titled album on Hozak Records.
It's [D] their band that [A]
I sort of [Bm] found out about via internet [D] like you do with so many [Gb] bands nowadays.
[D] We played some shows with them [A] actually, so they've become good friends.
But also this record, it's [D] amazing.
[A] They've recorded it themselves.
[Bm] Where you can see the trajectory they're [D] aiming for, when you listen to it you can [B] hear it,
what they're going for and [D] how they missed it and that left turn they made.
[A]
It's great.
Dwai Yokum, [Db] Buenas Noches from a Lonely Room. Great song.
He's one of my favorite live [E] performers.
[Eb] Why I love [Bbm] it?
Because I've been watching him [D] on YouTube.
I [F] think he's a good [E] songwriter.
I'm trying to learn from [A]
songwriters, [E] for example.
[A] Yeah, didn't have it [F] yet.
NXS [Am] Kick, which is like, I had this on vinyl in my iTunes,
which is [C] like I think one of my favorite modern pop [D] albums.
All [Bb]
in all, I think there's like 10 [F] singles on this album of like 13 songs, maybe [C] more.
And just some [F] beautiful, beautiful songs.
[C]
Never [F] Tear Us Apart, and I also [C] have a history with it.
As a young kid I would steal the tape from my sister [F] and wear it out basically.
[Em] I stepped a little off here [Am] to reggae.
[D] Because we listened to some [Am] on tour and I [D] started to write a reggae album.
Really?
Yeah, one song [G] called I Don't Want [Bm] Problems.
But I [Am] have to write a whole [Bm] album, so I'm going to study from the [Gb] best.
[Bm]
Next one is Metallica, [A] Master of Puppets, which I have [Gb] on CD.
I'm basically [E] getting it because I've never owned it on vinyl and I want to hear it on vinyl.
And Orion's just like the fucking jam, basically.
[Db] Actually, maybe this is the best songwriter of all time, [Eb] Randy Newman.
And I've got this one because it's one that I don't have and [Ab] it has the song
I Just Want You To Hurt Like I Do, which is a great song.
[Eb] [G]
[C] And Last of the Marine Girls, which is something I'm [F] new to.
[G] My roommate got me [C] into.
I've [Dm] been [G] somewhat of a Tracy [C] Thorne fan.
I like her music and everything but the girl.
[G] I only heard a couple songs of this, but everything I've liked so far.
So this could be the beginning of a new musical relationship.
[D]
A lot of people say this [A] is a real crap record, but my favorite Oasis songs don't go away.
[G] Don't go [C] away.
So [G] yeah, I'm going to give it a shot.
I [Am] love Oasis.
That's it.
[Gbm] Right on, well thanks for hanging out.
Yeah, [G] thank you for all the records.
