Start Jamming...
Hey all, just wanted to run through a Van Morrison tune from the Moondance album, [G] Glad Tidings.
It's really, if you don't know that album, you really need to get a copy.
It's a perfect record, one of my favorites by any group.
This one is from the box set version with a bunch of outtakes and stuff.
So it may be a half a step off from what the real album version is, but it wouldn't make [D] any difference.
You can just put the capo where it makes sense.
And it does have a capo, at least on this version.
I'm pretty sure the album one is also done the same way.
I haven't looked, but I suspect if you look up tabs and stuff, they'll just show in G, C, D, there's an E minor in there.
They'll probably show it like that.
But it's not like that.
It's definitely done with a capo.
Because you can hear a few things.
One, [Gm] you hear this, the high E at the third fret, you hear that G note ringing through the chords.
And there's certain parts [G] where he'll fiddle around with the B string on and off with the second fret and the high E string on and off with the second fret.
That's kind of a dead giveaway that he's playing it with a capo at the third fret and using E, A, B7.
So [C] you'll see E, A, [Em] B7 in there.
Then there's also one point where he goes
[Ebm] There's a C sharp minor [Em] with [N] the capo.
But that is done this version of a C sharp minor.
Mute the E and the A, or don't play them.
And then D string, again, up from the capo, second fret, G string, D string second, G string first, B string second.
So you get this C sharp [G] minor chord.
I'm just going to run through it and let you know the decor.
One of my favorites from the record.
[Bb] Claptones, take one.
[G]

[G] [C] [G]
So you can hear it's just E,
[C] A.
You can play it like that, like that, or even with one [Gm] finger.
The main thing is to make sure [G] that high E stays open and rings through the [C] [G]

[D] B7.
B7 and [G] E to A.
[C]
[D] B7, [G] E to [C] A.
[G] [G] [Gm] E7, [C] A.
Bring you [D] good tidings from New York.
That's just [C]
[D] A to B7 [G] back to E.
[C]
[D] [G] So that's C sharp minor.
[Em]
[C] And then A, [Gm] B7.
