The next record will be Victoria Mann's contribution to Black History Month, February 2012.
And since the theme of this year's Black History Month is Black Women in American Culture and History,
it's only right that I present to you one of the great voices, women voices, on record of the 20th century,
Contralto Marian Anderson.
This is Victor number 19-370.
And this is one of her earliest recordings.
And since she had a long and rich recording history here in the United States,
most people don't realize that she actually began her recording career recording acoustic records in [G] late 1923.
This is from early [Db] 1924, [Abm] and it's H.T. [N] Burleigh's arrangement of the great Negro spiritual, Go Down Moses.
This is from March 1924, the great African-American contralto, Marian Anderson.
