[F#] [F#m] [B] [A] Save you from
[F#] [B] If I was a judge [A] I'd break the [F#m] law
[B] If I was compareless
[C#] If I was compareless [A#] I would say
la [D] la la la la la
I think [C#] rock and roll is the best [A] word for what we do [B] because that's what it is
But [C#] there's a lot of edges to it
I think there's like you know the whole thing is you've got this like rock and roll sphere in the middle
And then we [F#] poke out here into like [A] folk and we poke out here into [E] like really edgy kind of [C#] bizarre
Like sound [F#m] landscapes, and then we poke out down here as a [A#] complete like soul revival review
And there's that [B] gospel and there's um there's country
You know I [F#] always think it's a little bit of a [B] challenge when people
Sort of associate female artists as their [F#] own genre like [D] it's funny my mom when I was a kid would reorganize the record collection
Like all the [F#] time, and you know she'd have
[B] Classical she'd have Celtic she'd have rock and roll and then she'd have female singers, and I don't like that.
That's the case
I don't like it that female singers are their own genre when a [A] woman
Uses her voice [C#] as a powerhouse
[F#m] [B] Statement piece [A] you're gonna get compared [F#m] to other female artists, so I I take it as a compliment
But [B] I think it's a bit of a blessing and a curse
[C#]
[F#] [A] Kenny Chesney is [C#] a new friend of mine a new a new sort of cohort in this crazy music industry and he
[F#] Called me up and asked me to collaborate [B] on this song.
I was I was bowled over
I was really [F#m] surprised and [C#] the song itself is an unbelievable [A] piece of work
I heard it, and I it [A#] was like 2 a.m.. And I called I [N] called immediately
I was like we have to do this this is amazing
There's there's no question in my mind that this is the right thing to do Kenny's record is coming out on September 28th
I can't wait.
I can't wait to hear the whole [F#] thing
[A] Being a [F#] rock and roll band is about spending time on the details so [A] that you can hone your own identity and really hone [C#] your craft
And I think we've [A] we've had almost going [F#] on eight years of [D#] honing
[B] so
So I think we finally [F#] kind of figured it out the most important thing to me is that we?
At [B] the core of it all have great [A#] songs, so it always comes back to [F#] singer-songwriter.
It's all about the songs
