[Eb] [F] [Bb] [Db] [F] [Ab]
[Bb] [F] [Ab] [F]
Okay, let's start with the bass.
It's basically a blues, an F minor blues this tune, going through F minor, B flat minor
to C minor.
It could be seen as an F sharp 9, but I like to look at it as an F minor blues, judging
by what the solo is doing.
So starting off, we've got an F minor sort of bass line, [Ab]
[Bb] [Fm] with a little flick on the C.
[Bbm] Four bars of that, then we're going to the B flat, [Eb] [Fm] then to the F minor again.
[Bb] [Cm] Then C, a part of a [Bbm] C minor for one, [Fm]
[Bb] [F] so the three I'll do them slowly.
[Ab] [Bb] [Fm]
[Bb] That's the F minor.
The B flat minor, [Db] [Eb] [Bb]
there's the B flat minor, and then the C minor one.
It only goes up to the [Cm] F.
[F] [Bb] [Db] [Eb] [F]
Okay?
Let's look at what's going on in the right hand.
We're starting off with an F fifth, sort of an F power chord.
F doubles on top, so that's your first note.
Don't add in the third, doesn't need it.
And then we're going [Ab] to an A flat root position chord, and then a B flat second [Bb] inversion.
If you don't know your inversions, just count up from a root, there's your second inversion.
[G] [F] F minor fifth, [Ab]
A flat root, [Bb] B flat, second inversion.
[Fm] So all together, with the bass note, I'll do it slowly.
[Ab] [Bb] [F]
[Ab] [Bb] [F] [Ab] You [Bb] [F] [Ab] [Bb] [F] can see I've got this little F in my thumb there.
[Ab] It's a [F] rhythmic thing, [Ab] [F] [Ab] [Bb]
[F] mixed with a little flick on the C.
[Ab]
[F] [Ab] [Bb] [F] [Ab] [Bb] [F]
So there's the F minor.
The B flat, [Bb]
we're back to the B flat second inversion, flick on the F again.
And then we've got a D flat first inversion, and an E flat first inversion, straight after each other.
So, [Db] [Eb] [Db] [Eb]
[Bb] together.
[Db] [Eb] [Bb]
[Db] [Eb] [Bb] Slower.
[Db] [Eb]
[Bb] [Db] [Eb] See the little flick on the [Bb] F?
[Db] [Eb] [Bb] [Db] [Eb] Gives a little groove to [F] the song.
And then it goes back to the F fifth, [Ab] A [Bb] flat, second inversion, [G] B flat again.
Does that a couple of [F] times, doesn't it?
[Ab] [F]
[Bb] [C] And then the last part, the C part, it only does it for one bar.
It's basically a C first inversion in your right hand, and a C root.
[Eb] An E flat first inversion in your right hand, and an E flat root.
And [F] F, F first inversion, then F.
[C]
[Eb] [F] [Gm] It's quite simple compared to the other one, because there's nothing to bounce off, [C] really.
[Eb] [F]
[Bb] And [Db] then you're [Eb] back to the B [Bb] flat.
[Db] [Eb] And then back to the [F] F minor.
[Ab] [Bb] [F] [Ab] [Bb] [F]
So, taking you through it really slowly now.
[Ab] [Bb] [F]
[Ab] [Bb] [F]
[Ab] [Bb] [F] [Ab]
[Bb] [Db] [Eb]
[Bb] [Db] [Eb] [F]
[Ab] [Bb] [F]
[Ab] [Bb] [C] [Eb] [F]
[Bb] [Db] [Eb] [F]
[Ab] [Bb] [F]
[Ab] [Bb] [Fm] I'm not going to go into the solo, because that's ready for another lesson.
You can check out the drawbars here.
This is what I use for the solo section.
I've pulled a few out.
[F]
[Fm] I like to solo my own solo.
You definitely learn the solo, but there's loads of rooms to put your own solo in there.
So, yeah, the drawbars for the bottom section here, the first four, I just push that one in there.
And this does depend on what amp you're using and the venue.
So, you can play about with this.
You might need to add a little bit of top on there.
