I'm happy that came together because
It's definitely the film was an underdog the whole way, so I'm happy that they got acknowledged for their you know hard work and great stuff
Yeah on that film there was two music supervisors.
There was one for production, and then there was one for after to put it all together
Yes, so Matt worked on that early and then Andrea came in
_ _ So Greg you've had a long distinguished career wrote a lot of amazing songs
And you went away for a little while stepped out of the limelight
What brought you [E] back in oh?

You know it's kind of like
_ When you see lyrics that maybe compel you or
_ Maybe a short story or a book
A script I don't really read a lot of scripts because it's not really in my remit as it were so when I got the
The script I fell in love with it and just thought God this is so unusual and different
Why not you know try this you know so that was what made it all come together
So the other movies begin again and Greg is nominated for an Academy Award
For writing it with his writing partner Danielle Brisbois who you've written a lot of amazing songs with throughout the years right?
Oh, thanks
Yeah, no we've known each other a long time.
We've uh you've been best friends and creative creatively involved for a long long time and
This was a fun wouldn't happen when the script came over one of the first things
I thought was how do I [Gm] you know integrate a you know Danielle?
_ [Db] Rick helped out a little bit on one or two songs Rick Knowles did some things with a Nick Lashley
Danielle's husband is incredibly talented [C] so it was a fun opportunity to kind of you know bring together a sense of community because
You know I I think [Eb] it's fun to collaborate with people I write songs by myself
But I find it's more more fun, and you know I don't have to go pick up [Db] the food for takeaway alone
You know exactly you know and so in the film
You got you were blessed to have one of the greatest [G] modern-day actors of singing and one of the greatest modern-day pop stars singing _
Adam Levine from Maroon [Eb] 5 is one of the stars of the film as is Keira Knightley
So talk about how they're different versions for you the different feelings that they both bring to you.

Yeah, it's interesting
Yeah, they [A] um
_ You know Adams more of a powerhouse, so he kind of just brought this kind of like
_ We're both big Prince fans and love like you know Luther Vandross and a lot of the greats from the from the 70s and the [G] 80s
And he brought kind of this powerhouse rock R&B hybrid
You know feeling to the vocal and Keira's a little bit more along the lines of maybe
that [Eb] Brill building Carol King
Sort of Laura Nero type spirit that we that's still in our heart.
I mean I still love Wedding Bell blues
I hear that's a classic that Marilyn McCoo.
No that was wait who did _
Marilyn, you know you're right.
I got that I thought I was the the audiophile, but [D] you beat me on that one
_ Music she did it with a group though fifth dimension.
Yeah, yeah, yeah good stuff.

Yeah, we're old school, but we're good.

So what's next for you?
What's the next plan after you pick up your Oscar?
I should say oh you're too.
What are you gonna?

I should be at Disneyland ship it to my mom regular mail.

I mean I
Who knows if it'll happen?
I mean if it does that would be a
Performance art and very exciting and a big honor and stuff, but we don't [C] take anything for granted
No, I've always felt like underdogs a little way.
I'm a guy yeah, yeah, but no um with uh, I I don't know
I mean, let's see what happens.
I mean, I think maybe if there's an exciting script
I see scripts from time to time now, but it has to be something that really speaks to your soul
So right much like do we know if the song is being performed at the Oscars and who's performing?
I don't know
I mean, it's gonna be performed.
I'm not sure who's gonna sing it.
I've been told that it's like a
Government secret so if I would tell you but then I'll keep it on a low profile be kidnapped by the Russian mafia
Well, actually they're doing that anyway, so we lost you a lot of years man.
We can't have it happen again
Yeah, absolutely well.
We got to move out there in the world writing [Ab] great songs like you're doing _
