We're on the red carpet at the Classic Rock Roll of Honor Awards.
It's an honor to meet you, Greg Allman, and you're getting the Living Legend Award tonight.
And you know what I loved is Dwayne's daughter, Galadriel, wrote [Eb] in her book about the fact
It's a fantastic book, wasn't it?
Yeah, here's what she wrote.
She said, the Allman Brothers [F] took the blues, electrified it in a way no American band ever had
with an integrated band in the segregated South.
It was revolutionary. So congratulations.
Yeah, we got refused in a few restaurants.
Yeah, that's
I don't know if it's ever going to go away, but it's gotten better than it has been.
You blazed the trail, and you got the Reverend Billy Gibbons going to give you the award.
And I talked to him about the fact that you guys survived a hurricane together in New Orleans
really early on when Dwayne was alive, and you guys jammed on one way out in the middle of a hurricane.
Oh, yes.
A hurricane doesn't stop you having fun, you know.
You were quite the survivor, and I love the fact that you mentioned that Dwayne had the vision.
There were times when you doubted it, but he just set you guys going, and you just kept it going.
I was the doubting Thomas all along, [Ab] but I guess he proved me wrong.
Congratulations on closing [F] out at the Beacon Theater, and now you're going on with a solo tour.
All right.
I've been putting them together.
I've been putting my new band together for about seven and a half years, and it's a big band.
Horns and everything.
I've always wanted to do that.
Thank you for the great music, and thank you also for always having such an extraordinary voice,
great character, great soul coming through.
Thank you very much.
