_ _ _ _ Welcome to Eric Blackman Music.

_ _ [C] _ [B] Hi, and welcome to my tutorial on how to embellish some old school R&B chords.
The guitar is tuned standard, _ _ EADGBE.
_ We're going to start with a Bb major chord, [Em] and we're going to be [Bb] playing it this way. _
_ _ Now to learn these chords with tabs, go to chord tutorial number 164 on this channel.
This is a Bb chord, and what we're going to do is play the chord and do a double stop like [D] this.
_ _ [Em] _ _ [Bb] _ _ [D] _
_ _ Now that [Gb] double stop is at the 5th fret on the [C] G string and the 6th fret on the B string.
Just holding that down, _ [G] slide up a whole step, [D] and slide back like that.
So [F] what you're going to do is start with that Bb major chord like [Bb] this.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [F] _
_ _ _ [Bb] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [Gm] _ _ [F] _ _ _
Now [Ab] for our next embellishment, what we're going to do is go [Bb] to a Bb major 7 chord like this.
_ _ _ _ And we're going to add that same double [D] stop _ [F] from the 5th fret to the 7th fret, right?
[Fm] We're going to do it this way, and play it like that.
So here we go.
[D] _ _ [Bb] _ _ [D] _ _ [Fm] _
[Bb] Now we could do that with any major 7 chord, you see.
So let's lower it to an [G] Ab major [Ab] 7, and do the same thing from the 3rd fret to [C] the 5th fret.
_ _ _ _ _ [Eb] _
_ _ [D] _ _ _ [Bb] _ [G] _ _
_ [C] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[Ebm] _ Really simple.
_ [D] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [G] _
_ _ _ [Bb] _ _ _ For our next embellishment, we're going to go to our Bb major 7, _ _ [G] Am7, _ _ [Gb] and [F] Gm7.
Okay, so this is what we're going to do.
[Bb] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [Am] _ _ [C] _ _ _
_ _ _ [F] _ _ _ _ [Bb] _
_ _ So what we're doing there is when we get to the [G] Am7, _ we're going to hammer [E] on the A string at [Bm] the 7th fret.
[Em] _ _ [C] _
_ _ _ _ _ [Em] _ _ _
_ _ [Bm] So we're hammering from 5 to 7, _ [E] _
_ going to the 5th fret [Em] on the D string, hammering on the 7th fret D string,
[A] _ [C] pulling off, and [E] back to the 7th fret on the A string, [C] and then play the 5th fret chord.
Okay, so here we go, _ _ _ like that.
And we're holding down the 3 strings here.
_ The D string, G string, B string.
Alright, which is really C major. _ _ _
And we'll do [Eb] the same thing when we go to [F] Gm7 at the 3rd fret.
So _ [Bb] _ _ _ _ _
we've got this.
[Dm] _ _ _ _ _ _
[C] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ [F] _
_ _ _ [Bb] _ _ _ _ [G] _
_ _ [C] _ _ _ And that is a C7.
And [Gb] back up to [F] F for our key.
_ _ _ [D] Alright, and that's it for old school R&B chord embellishment.
That's it for now.
Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day. _ _ _ _
