It's Ryan from fulldistortion.com. In this lesson we're going to take a look at
The Way by Fastball.
A really good song from the 90's, fun to strum along with.
It uses
one kind of different bar chord you're probably not used to, but it's not that bad.
So we'll
show you all the chords for this.
If you haven't done it already, go to the website fulldistortion.com
and sign up for the Players Club.
You get advanced access to these video lessons before
they go out publicly on YouTube, all kinds of good stuff like that.
And you get a free
chord book that will show you all the chords we use in these lessons, or at [F#] least most
of them.
So do that and please subscribe to our channel if you haven't done that already.
So now we will take a look at how to play The Way by Fastball.
Okay [Em] so to start off, got a capo on the second fret here.
If you don't have a capo you can
play it without one, but it's going to need some bar chords and it makes it a little more
difficult.
So if you've got one, throw it on there.
If you don't, go get one because
they're really handy.
So second fret capo.
You're going to start off on an E [F#m] minor.
Then
you're going to go [Bm] to an A minor.
Then you're going [N] to go to a B7.
So this one is not in
the chord book you get when you sign up for the Players Club, so I'll just show it to
you now.
It's much like a normal B, except you're going to not go on the fourth string
on the G.
So it's [F#] do the bar across the second fret.
Again, that's in [N] relation to the capo.
So bar across the second and then fourth on the D and the [C#] B.
[F#] So a normal B would sound
[C#] like this.
[A]
This guy's [C#] like this.
So [F#] that's your third chord.
So E [F#m] minor, [Bm] A minor,
[F#] [C#] B7,
[C] E [F#m] minor again.
[F#] You're going to go to an E7.
E7 is just like a normal E, except you're
not [C#] going to fret anything on the D string.
Leave that open.
So second fret on the A,
[A#] [E] open D, [Gm] first fret on [F#] the G,
[Bm] A minor, [C#] D7, [F#m] E minor.
[F#] And that's the chord progression
for the verse.
And then it goes through that [F#m] again.
[Bm]
[C#]
[F#m]
[F#]
[Bm]
[C#]
[F#m]
And [F#] then you finish on a D to go into
[E] the chorus.
[F#m] [E]
[Am] So lead into [C] the chorus with a D and the chorus is going [A] to go G, [E] D,
[F#m] E minor,
[N] [C#] B7,
[C] [D] C,
[A] G.
[E]
You turn around on the D again [A] and start over.
[E] G, D, [F#m] E minor, [C#] B7, [D] C, [A] G, [E]
and [C#] finish
on the B7.
[F#] So that chorus, I'll go through one more time [G#m] here.
[F#m] [B] And [A] [E]
[F#m] [C#]
[D] [A]
[E]
[A] [E]
[F#m] [C#]
[D] [A]
[E]
[C#]
[F#] that's the chorus.
Go back into the verses and that's more or less the rhythm for The Way by Fastball.
