We're going to speak about picking techniques for a couple of minutes.
There are a few different picking techniques that I use.
I like to use either alternate picking that you might be familiar with.
It means that you do every second pick stroke is down and every second one is up.
You're alternating like down, up, down, up.
[B] [C] [B]
[E] [Gb]
[Eb] That's alternate picking.
It's [B] up and down, up and down.
[A] The sweep picking is you actually sweep like this going up [Ab] and sweep like this going down.
[Am] You can have a phrase like this, the [Cm] A minor chord.
[Am] [Cm]
Down, down, down, up.
When you're on the same [N] string, then you can alternate.
But when you're changing strings, you can [Cm] just sweep down.
[A] [D] [B]
[Cm] [B]
[G] [D] When you're going up, you can sweep like this, [A] down, down, [G] down, down, up.
[Ab] Up stroke on the last note.
It's a G [B] major arpeggio just starting on the third.
Down, [G] down, down, [B] down, [G] down, down, up.
Down, down, down, down, down, down, up.
Down, down, down, up.
[Ab] The idea is the same.
When you're playing more than one note per string, then you can alternate.
But when [B] you're changing a [G] string, then you just sweep.
This is very effective and easy to play fast.
