Keith Richards amp setup is usually pretty simple
pretty old-school in the sense of just kind of taking a non master volume amp and
Turning it up really loud.
So it distorts here.
We have a 112 deluxe reverb reissue made by fender and
It's a black face that terminology always meant the actual color of the front
There's a black face and there's a silver face reverbs
The more collectible is the black face because the circuit was a little different
That was before CBS purchased fender and often the black face is the sound that people usually go to
You heard the terminology a lot when people mod their silver face to a black face basically change some
Capacitors and resistors to make it sound like these older models.
This is a reissue.
It's pretty great pretty good sounding reissue
real easy to come by and
Fenders go is one of my favorites this and the super reverb.
So let's take a look at how I got it set up here
There's no master volume as I had said
And it's a pretty low wattage amp.
It's about 22 watts
So it starts to give up the goods pretty early
I'm gonna go on this channel, which is the normal channel as opposed to the vibrato channel
And if I brought a channel we have the reverb and a tremolo circuit
I'm not going to use any of those.
So my gut feeling and a lot of people is just it's in the circuit
So we just avoid it entirely we go to the normal side.
We just have volume treble and bass
There's no middle on a number of fender amps because they actually have a fairly scooped mid to just the sound of a fender
so
unlike Marshall's
Where I first thing I do would be to turn the bass up to 10 with fender amps usually the louder you make the volume
The lower you make the bass so
If I'm done about three here, I may [G] turn the bass up a little bit
[C] [G] [C] [C] [G]
[N] Really cool great clean fender sound there
So if I start bringing up the volume to about say six the amps gonna break up [G] more
but [C] [G] [N] I feel like I'm getting a lot of loss of definition on the low notes because
There's just too much bass coming through.
So I dropped that down to about
So three and a half [G] sounds
[C]
[G] Yeah, I really tightened everything up now the treble I can adjust based on the kind of guitar I'm using I'm using a Telecaster
So it's a pretty bright guitar to begin with.
So I'm gonna keep the treble pretty low
I've got about three and a half as well.
Let me put that on ten.
We can hear that sounds like
[C]
Now back down to three that was really harsh and bright for me a lot of top end
So [C] plenty of top end but actually not taking your head off
This is a 112 combo
Definitely great little club amp you bring it around with you.
They take pedals pretty well like any tube amp
I don't think it really starts doing its thing meaning it's starting sound really good until you're about three on the volume or above
So even if you're running pedals in into it a low volume
Usually doesn't sound [G] and as good as it [Bb] would until for me about about three
So that's kind of it for the Keith Richards segment of the amps that we're going to check out
pretty old-school in the sense of just kind of taking a non master volume amp and
