Hey guys, welcome back to another episode of Guitar of the Day.
I'm your host Michael
Lemo, and it's officially Flat Top Friday again, and we have a special guest today,
Angela Petrilli.
We loved her so much the first time.
Thank you so much.
Yeah, yeah, glad you're doing it.
So she's gonna kill it, as always.
Maybe just boot
me out, but kill it.
No way.
Big shoes to fill.
No [Abm] way.
No way.
Guys, I'm back.
It's good to be back.
Thanks
so much for having me, guys.
[A] All right, [Abm] there's a really awesome guitar I want you guys to
[Em] see.
This, I can't wait to play.
[Gm]
I've heard lots of things about it in the shop today.
And drumroll.
Let's check it out.
[G] All right, guys.
Wow.
Beautiful.
Wow.
This thing is immaculate.
Hold on, I need a minute.
[D] Oh, this is great.
What we have here is a [G] 1999 Martin D45.
So
as we know, the D45s, these are the flagship, top of the line Martins since the 1930s.
This
thing, wow.
This thing's 20 years old.
There's not even any belt buckle scratches on this.
This thing, I mean, I could even, you could even smell the Martin factory, that beautiful,
any of you who have Martin guitars, you know that beautiful vanilla smell.
It still has
it.
Wow.
I can't believe this thing's 20 years old.
It's beautiful.
This thing is a time
machine.
Unbelievable.
So what we've got here [F] is we have a [C] solid spruce top, okay?
Indian rosewood [G] back and sides, okay?
Also, what makes these D45s so incredibly beautiful
and awesome is it's got all the bells and whistles.
Let's just have a look at all the
mother of pearl here.
I mean, okay?
[G] On the fretboard.
I mean, just look at it.
It's just
such a beautiful detail on these guitars.
They really just go all out.
It's gorgeous.
We've got it here towards the neck, okay?
All around, and even this detail here, so
check it out.
We've got the mother of pearl.
I know, right, Jen?
This is awesome.
I know.
This is really cool.
This is beautiful.
I mean, and of course, the beautiful.
I just love these bindings
on Martins.
That's a very, very beautiful design too.
If you check that out and zoom
in on it, just gorgeous.
So, I mean, they [Fm] go all out.
Some of the finest materials are
used on this, of course, with the [N] spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides.
So,
we've got here, I mean, this thing, it's just beautiful.
Remarkable [E] condition, guys.
It's
beautiful.
[G] It comes with the original case and the original paperwork too, [N] and also some
famous artists who have played a D45 are Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Stephen Stills, and of course,
Johnny Cash.
So, this thing's beautiful.
Jen, I can't wait to play it.
I know, you're too excited.
I'm too excited.
I love a really, really great acoustic, and I have [Ab] no doubt this thing's
going to sound great.
So, shall we?
Should we go and play it?
Let's go.
