Alright, this is a lesson for the Pete Anderson solo and Dwight Yoakam's guitars Cadillacs
the first part is
It's pretty easy.
It's basically just sliding up
In thirds and then sixths and then the second part is a little trickier.
It's kind of interesting
So I'll try to play the first part
So it starts off with kind of a little variation of the lick he does for the verses
[A]
[B]
[A] [F#] [B]
[F#]
[B] [A]
[B]
[A] So that's pretty much the whole solo I just learned it it's a little sloppy
But to slow [D] it down
that first lick is like
You're around the second fret and you're kind of just hammering [G#] off on or onto the fourth [F#m] fret
[B]
And then you're you're basically
For the next part you're gonna be barring on
the
the G and the B strings and
You're basically playing over an A the whole solo goes
The first part goes over [D] a and it goes into e and I'll explain this as we [A] go along
And then the and it comes back to a in the end
so the first part it's just doing a kind of a chromatic walk up in thirds from the
from this position a
To this position a so he's just going
[D#] Those two are barred and then you're basically doing like it's like you were doing like a [G] G shape
except you're just [B] playing these two notes on the
You put you're playing the
[A] Fourth fret on the G string on the third fret on the
B string and you just slide that up you go
[Bm]
[Cm] [F#m]
And then you kind of [C#] the trick about this is you kind of have to you have to make sure that your hands are in
the right position
Because you want to [A] go you want to leave this shape [Bm] and then slide it up.
You don't want to go
Like that [E] you want to keep your bar because you're gonna [F#m] need it right here
[Bm] [A] [Bm]
[E] So you slide up to the a from the a to the other a and
[A]
[C#] Now you're just doing you're doing double stops throughout this whole thing
But on the next one you're doing them in intervals of six
So you're skipping a string and you're plucking both these at the same time
[F#m] [Bm]
[F#m] You're going if you know you're kind of six intervals is a real kind of [C#m] classic country stuff where you're playing the
[Bm] You're playing on the first string and then on the third string
[A] So you're basically playing over an a like picture an a bar [F#] chord and you're just playing the kind of top [A] half of it
Except you're not playing the B string.
You're just playing these other two strings [F#] and then here you're just going up and
[B] playing the same two strings, but you're playing on the
seventh fret and
Then you slide it up to the ninth fret [A] and then what you do is you bend
[A]
Then come back down
Now you do the same lick on that when you over the e when it goes [E] to the E chord
[C#]
and then for the second part of it, you've been you do that kind of the second half of that you go and
Then the next part is playing over an E chord
It's basically playing kind of the the lick kind of outlines [E] an E shape here and an E shape here
So it's like picture your your bar of an E here and the top half of it and then picture like an E chord here
your bar and then but but without the root and
Then like putting your pinky down for an octave like if you were to do like a [A] a up [E] here
so what he's doing is like he's he's hitting the
[G#m]
He's doing [B] some pre bends.
So you're you're on the 12th fret
[E] [B] Remember you got that again
[E]
[A]
[B] [A]
so what you [B] did is and [F#] then that's just you're bending from the suspended fourth down to the third and
[Bm]
[E] You go to the root and you [C#m] slide that down
[E]
So you can see your shape you kind of went from here
[B]
[F#] [D#] And then this is like if you were bending like doing that kind of standard country
Bend where you're playing where you're bending up from the second to the third like when [F#] you go
or like this and
What he's doing is like he comes down
[F#m]
[E] now you hit the octave and
then bend that [D#] pre bend and
[C#]
then what you're doing is that at that point it hits the the a it goes back to the a over the the changes and
He's just hitting the one meaning the a note on the
On the B string at the 10th fret [B]
and then what he does is he slides it down
and hits the same note on the fifth fret and at this point like I said, we're in a and
Now you think about it's kind of like the almost like that same lick
But he's down here now
So you do that pre bend again?
And what you're doing is you're bending from the pre bend from the fourth down to the third the suspended fourth
[A]
To the root [B] so you go and [A] you slide it down and you hit the
the root on the
[E] On the second fret on the G string
So [D] let me try to do that a little
[A]
[C#] Then you go
[A]
So maybe I'll try to do it a little slower
[Cm] [B]
Try that again
[A]
[E] [G#m]
[F#]
[B]
[F#m]
